Traditional colours and a shading effect on Northampton Saints’ new shirts

Black, Green and Gold are the colours of Northampton Saints, the historic English rugby club that plays in the Gallagher Premiership. This same combination of colours, arranged in traditional horizontal bands, identifies the new ‘Home’ shirts that Saints will wear this coming season. This element of tradition, however, is complemented by innovative styling and graphics. The new kit conveys a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment, being made from Eco-Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled plastic.

The new ‘Home’ shirt has a gold crew neck and sleeve cuffs. The body, front and back, features broad horizontal bands of green and black separated by thin gold lines. The green bands are in turn formed by horizontal lines that range from light to dark green, creating a shading effect from bottom to top. The same graphic effect is repeated on the shoulders and sleeves.

The customised inside neck label comes in the colours of the club and bears the crest of Northampton Saints along with that of Macron and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and produced at the Italian company’s Bologna headquarters. The Macron Hero logo appears in white on the right of the chest. The crest of the Northampton Saints appears on the left and, just above it, a gold star represents the club’s victory in the Heineken Champions Cup at Twickenham on 27 May 2000. The shorts are black with white drawstrings and side bands that repeat the same graphics as the shirts. The socks are black with two broad horizontal bands featuring the same shades of green as the shirt, separated by fine gold lines.

The Body Fit shirts are made mainly from Eco-Fightex with Eco-Boditex and Eco-Strong Mesh inserts for maximum strength along with lightness and perfect breathability. These new ‘Home’ shirts, along with all the other articles in Macron’s teamwear collection for Northampton Saints, are available from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the club.
