Tradition and a city icon on the new eco-sustainable home shirts of FC Basel 1893

FC Basel 1893, the top club in Swiss and European football, and Macron, technical partner to the “RotBlau” as of this year, have presented the new ‘Home’ match kits that the team will wear next season. The new shirts combine the club’s colours, history and logos with shared graphics that pay homage to one of the city’s most iconic buildings, the Basler Münster, the late Gothic cathedral that is one of Basel’s most important and symbolic features.

The shirt conveys not just the identity of the team but also a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment, Macron having chosen to make them in Eco-Fabric, a polyester material 100% derived from recycled plastic and certified according to the Global Recycled Standard.

The new “Home” shirt adopts the club’s iconic style with the front and back divided into two halves, one red and the other blue. The shirt features a V neck and a backneck with the club’s name and logo and the shape of the cathedral silhouetted against a black background. The shirt is embellished on the front and back with an embossed rhomboid pattern that represents the well-known shape of the roof tiles on Basel cathedral.

The bottom hem is trimmed on the inside with a sweatband bearing the words “FC BASEL 1893 – AI STADT, AI CLUB, AI LIEBI”. The Macron Hero logo is reproduced on the right chest and the badge of FC Basel 1893 on the left. The year the club was formed is printed on the back at neck height. The shorts are blue with red details and the socks are also in blue with a red cuff.

The shirts are Slim Fit, made mainly from Eco-Sirena fabric with an Eco micromesh panel in the back which makes them both lightweight and fully breathable. The new kit is on sale from the online stores at macron.com and shop.fcb.ch.
