Italian style and colours for the new Macron kits of the Italian National Basketball Team

Italian identity, style, and the spirit of the ‘Blues’ characterise Macron’s new kits for the Italian men’s and women’s basketball teams presented today at the Headquarters of ITA Airways in Rome in the presence of Gianni Petrucci, President of the Italian Basketball Federation, Gianmarco Pozzecco, coach to the men’s side, Luigi Datome, Head of Delegation for the men’s side, Angelo Marino, Macron’s Chief Communications Officer, Andrea Benassi, General Manager of ITA Airways, and Antonio Santamaria, General Manager of Master Group Sport.

For an Italian company like ours, being asked to design kit for the national basketball team – as we already do for the sport of rugby – is a source of pride,” declares Angelo Marino, Chief Communications Officer for Macron. We are very happy to have such a good relationship with FIP, the Italian Basketball Federation, whom we have partnered since last year. The kit worn by any Italian national team belongs to the nation and needs to convey a sense of belonging and identity. Wearing it is a unique emotion not just for the players but for sport fans too. The new kit has been designed in Bologna by Macron’s Style Department in collaboration with FIP and is made particularly iconic by the colours of the Italian flag on the shirt and on by a flag on the shorts. Design, style and appreciation of beauty are our strengths as an Italian brand and these values become even more important when applied to the kit a national team featuring Italian blue and the colours of the flag. We can’t wait to see the new kit worn by the players chosen by Coach Pozzecco. We wish him and the team all the best for the Olympic Qualifiers.

A team is not only composed of athletes and technicians. In a sports organisation that aspires to great goals, it is necessary for all the components to give their best in their respective fields and to contribute to the highest possible performance – said Giovanni Petrucci, President of the Italian Basketball Federation – Today we are here to take another important step together with our partners, members of our extended team and valuable support in all our activities. I thank ITA Airways, never more than in this case fellow travellers, for hosting us here and for being a constant and professional presence in our journeys. I would like to thank Macron for always being at the forefront in the creation of our uniforms, also paying more and more attention to sustainability and style. I thank IBSA for investing with enthusiasm and creativity not only in the Federation and the National Teams but also in the basketball world as a whole through its commitment with LBA. I thank MG for having chosen the FIP and the National Teams as a level partner to accompany its brand. Together, on the beautiful new kit, we hope to take our Tricolore and our Azzurro to the highest possible level, that is the Paris 2024 Games.

The new ‘Home’ shirt has a V neck and armholes trimmed in the colours of the flag. Its key characteristic is a vertical pattern inspired by the world of fashion, featuring elegant, embossed pinstripes. On the right of the chest are white silicone prints of the FIP logo and Macron Hero, one under the other. The inside neck label is customised with the logo of the Federation on a blue and white background, the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and developed at Macron Campus in Valsamoggia. The blue shorts have white drawstrings and a woven Italian flag patch on the elastic waistband. The tricolour bands of the vest are also repeated on the sides and leg bottoms.

The ‘Away’ kit is in white and replicates the graphic layout of the ‘Home’ version with the colours of the Italian flag on the crew neck and armholes. Once again, on the front and back is an elegant, embossed print pinstripe pattern. The FIP and Macron Hero logos are silicone printed in Italian blue. The waistband of the white shorts is decorated with the Italian flag and the national colours again appear on the sides and leg bottoms.

The new Body Fit match kits are made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material 100% derived from recycled plastic, confirming the commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment that is shared by Macron and FIP.

The new Italian national basketball kits, along with all other items of teamwear developed for the FIP, can be purchased as of today from the dedicated section of the Macron website: Macron.com/italbasket.
