Guinness Women’s Six Nations 2024 ready to kick off

The Six Nations never stops! The echoes of the exciting battles that characterised the men’s championship have not yet died away and the oval ball is back in action again in the hands of national sides eager to take the pitch in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations 2024. The edition due to start tomorrow is the 23rd in the history of the championship and the nations who wear the Macron Hero on their chests – Italy, Scotland and Wales – all have great ambitions and expectations. All three sides are determined to do well and their prospects are looking good.

Italy has high hopes based on the excellent season enjoyed by the men’s XV, who added an exciting chapter to the history of the world’s oldest international rugby tournament. This positive feeling is certain to inspire the girls trained by Giovanni Raineri and captained by Elisa Giordano as they gear up for their first tough match in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations. The ‘Blues’ take the field against England on Sunday 24 March at Parma’s Sergio Lanfranchi Stadium. The English side are the current champions and have dominated the competition for the last five years.

The first day of action features a ‘Macron derby’ at Cardiff Arms Park between Wales and Scotland. Both teams have added new players to a core of experienced athletes to create a mix of reliability, talent and enthusiasm that is sure to offer both coaches a wide range of choices in selecting the best XV. Other ‘Macron derby’ matches are scheduled for 20 April at the Lanfranchi Stadium, when Italy play Scotland, and for 27 April, one week later, at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, when Wales plays Italy.

Macron’s presence, however, will not be limited to the matches involving these three partner nations. Macron technical sportswear will be worn for all matches by the Emirates Match Officials thanks to the partnership with World Rugby that dates back to 2021.
