100 years of history in AEK BC's special Anniversary shirt

The Athens derbies are a serious event, but the one being held today against Panathinaikos has double the significance for AEK BC. For this important occasion, the All-Athenian Athletic Club will in fact be showcasing the special ‘Anniversary Shirt’ to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. This historic milestone deserves a completely customised and meaningful kit to play tribute to the glorious centennial history of AEK BC. The shirt will be used solely on the occasion of the derby with Panathinaikos valid for the 18^th day of A1 Ethniki and is made entirely of Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled plastic. This green choice is shared by both club and technical sponsor, and sends a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment.

AEK BC’s new Anniversary Kit features numerous innovations in terms of both style and design, starting with the colours. Indeed, Bordeaux and gold replace the traditional yellow and black, recalling AEK BC’s historic kits and enhancing the Greek club’s anniversary. The design also constitutes a significant novelty for Macron, since it is the first short-sleeved shirt proposed for a top basketball club. The 100^th Anniversary Shirt has a V neck with gold, white and Bordeaux stripes, the same colour combination found on the sleeve cuffs. The gold and Bordeaux inside neck label is customised with the club’s centenary logo, along with the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived and produced at Macron’s Bologna headquarters.

The logo of AEK BC and the Macron Hero appear in gold on the right of the chest, one above the other. In the centre is the acronym A.E.K. in gold. Two golden bands run down the sides with images of all the national and international trophies won by the Athens club inside. Both the front and rear of the Bordeaux shirt are characterised by a repeated tone-on-tone dye-sub print of the double-headed eagle, symbol of AEK BC. The special game kit is completed by Bordeaux shorts with white drawstrings and gold-coloured side stripes.

The 100^th Anniversary Shirt is a Body Fit garment and is made mainly from Eco Digitex with Eco Mesh inserts for lightness and excellent breathability. AEK BC’s special kit, together with the 23-24 vests used in A1 Ethniki, can be purchased from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the Greek club.
