UEFA Match Officials' new shirts for EURO 2024: quality, technology, design and elegance on the pitch
Everything is set for the kick-off of UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany. This year's event marks the second consecutive European football championship where Macron is UEFA's official partner for supplying sportswear to the refereeing teams. The first whistle will blow on June 14th in Munich for the opening match between Germany and Scotland. The final, which will crown the new European champions will be held on July 14th at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Throughout the tournament, match officials – obviously essential to this month of top-flight football – will wear new game kits and technical sportswear made by Macron, the "Official UEFA Referee Match Kit Supplier" since 2019.
In collaboration with UEFA's match officials department, the Macron's styling department has developed garments from innovative high-tech fabrics, ensuring maximum comfort and practicality, and allowing referees, their assistants, and VAR officials to perform their essential roles optimally. The refined new collection is crafted from Eco Fabric, a polyester material made entirely from recycled plastic, reflecting the shared commitment of Macron and UEFA to sustainability and environmental protection.
The new match official kits for this 17th edition of the European Championship feature embossed graphics on the front of the shirt, representing the official graphics pattern of EURO 2024. A thin stripe at the back of the neck reproduces the colours of the official logo, inspired by the flags of the participating nations. This year’s kit is available in fluo red, fluo blue, fluo yellow, black with gold details, and a new all-gold version. The socks come in the same colours as the shirts while the shorts are always in black. The Macron Hero appears on the right of the chest, with the UEFA Match Official badge on the left. The right sleeve displays the EURO 2024 patch while the left bears the “UEFA FOUNDATION for children” logo.
The UEFA referees' collection for EURO 2024 includes a complete set of sportswear for training, travel, and representation, such as T-shirts, tracksuits, hooded sweatshirts, waterproof jackets, and cotton polos, all in dark green with elegant embossed stripes. Notably, this collection marks a significant milestone by introducing the first fully customized training shirt for a UEFA tournament. This garment is predominantly white with gold details on the neck and sleeve cuffs, and it features the multicolored EURO 2024 graphic at the center of the chest.
“We are looking forward to an intense month of top-flight football, where UEFA’s referees will ensure maximum fairness and enjoyment in the stadiums of EURO 2024,” stated Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “Our commitment is to provide quality, technology, practicality, and comfort, enabling them to perform at their best on the pitch. This is the objective of our continuous research and development, as well as our unique and distinctive designs.”
Roberto Rosetti, UEFA Managing Director of Refereeing, added, “Being a referee in the modern game is very challenging. UEFA seeks referees with strong personalities who make and stand by their decisions, even under immense pressure. We are delighted to have Macron by our side for EURO 2024. Our shared values of protecting football and its image drive us. Macron consistently pushes the boundaries to deliver the latest innovations and best quality, ensuring that referees feel comfortable in their crucial and high-pressure roles.”
