RUGBY COLORNO, WHEN A DREAM BECOMES REALITY
AN OVAL BALL AS A SYMBOL FOR AN ENTIRE CITY
Forty-six years ago, thanks to Parma rugby legend Paolo Pavesi, a group of young people decided to set up the first rugby team in the history of Colorno. What they probably weren't aware of at the time is that they were giving life to what would become an inseparable identity trait of the Emilian town, like the Reggia or the Tortél Dols.
Soon after the first results and the first satisfactions, the enthusiasm and the attention around the oval ball grew, spread and became rooted in the soul of the people of Colorno. So much so that, in the 1990s, rugby entered local schools, becoming irreversibly part of the genetic and educational code of the city.
A DREAM ON PAUSE
The professional climb and the transversal growth of love for sport go hand in hand. The project to expand into the women's game began in the early 2000s, forming what 15 years later became the Italian Champion team (2017-18). Fast forward a year, the HBS Colorno Macron wins a historic promotion to the highest Italian Championship, the Peroni Top12. Then, the pandemic. Empty stands, suspended competitions and the unnatural silence of deserted fields put a dream on pause.
THE IMPORTANCE OF STRONG FOUNDATIONS
Today, the Rugby Colorno is ready to pick up where it left off, thanks to the strength and enthusiasm coming from the base and the flagship of the club, the youth sector. It is no coincidence that Colorno is the only club in Italy to field at least one team in all existing categories, from U6 to the first male and female teams. A 'goal' achieved step by step through programming, school sports training and the consequent sharing of those values and sporting principles which make Macron a proud partner of the dream of Colorno.
THE JERSEY IS A DREAM, AND DREAMERS ARE WINNERS
"I'm here to dream, as should anyone who wears this shirt, because by dreaming, you can get anywhere". This is what Stefano Cantoni - President of Rugby Colorno Soc. Coop. - firmly believes. "It is wrong to settle for the mundane, to sit on our hands and pretend nothing is happening. You have to face life with a smile, with the desire to get involved and achieve what you set out to do. Playing for Rugby Colorno means throwing your heart over the obstacle, without giving up".
