Ospreys will wear the Macron Hero on their chest
The Ospreys, leading team in Welsh rugby that compete in the prestigious BKT United Rugby Championship, are joining the Macron family with multi-year partnership. This agreement will see all technical clothing produced and manufactured by the Italian brand Macron, the international leader in teamwear production, as well the global beacon in the rugby world for quality, technicality, style and customisation of garments, specially designed for the world of the oval ball.
The Ospreys are one of four clubs in Welsh Rugby, and represent Neath, Swansea, Bridgend and Aberavon. Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, the team was founded in 2003 when Swansea RFC and Neath RFC merged. Ospreys are the most successful Welsh team with four Celtic League titles, one Anglo Welsh Cup and winning the BKT URC Welsh Shield in 21/22.
The partnership with Macron will see The Ospreys wearing a fully bespoke range, from playing in the highest quality match kits to a technical training line, and a travel and leisure range accompanied by accessories that best represent the identity and history of the club in this special year. In addition to the custom range, the partnership will make the Ospreys products much more accessible to the fans, not only through the store at Swansea.com Stadium, but also through a brand new, custom built e-commerce platform. Furthermore, the products will be available at an Ospreys store in the Quadrant Shopping Centre, as well as in a new Macron Sports Hubs on Carmarthen Road in Cwmbwrla, Swansea.
“We are delighted to announce this partnership with the Ospreys, who are juggernauts, both past and present, in Welsh rugby,” said Ross Cook, Sr Sports Marketing Manager of Macron. “Wales remains one of the hotbeds of the sport and the Ospreys’ rich history represents one of the founding pieces in the rugby mosaic of Welsh rugby. We believe Macron to now be synonymous with rugby, holding 37% of sponsorships in the European rugby market, as well as 7 of the 20 teams represented at the up and coming 2023 RWC. Therefore, we believe that we can bring elite technical rugby apparel products, mixed with Italian flare and fashion that is specifically designed for Ospreys and the supporting fans. Mix this in with the retail knowledge and increased distribution in the local region, this is the beginning of a true partnership. Our goal is to provide high-quality and technical advancements to ensure that the athletes can maximise their performance on and off the pitch, while feeling at home in products which enhance the history and the symbolism of this club”.
Speaking on the deal, Commercial Director for the Ospreys, Anthony Cole-Johnson said: “We are extremely excited to announce our new partnership with Macron as our official kit supplier. This is the biggest commercial kit deal in the history of the club, and demonstrates significant support from Macron to the Ospreys over a multi-year period. This partnership will provide us with not only a best in class kit and technical wear, but also a footprint into Swansea and the region with two new shops to serve the region. What really drew us to Macron was their passion for innovation and their commitment to quality. Our players deserve the best, and Macron delivers that in every aspect of their clothing. ”
“But this isn't just about the kit itself. This partnership represents a shared vision for success both on and off the field. Macron is a global leader in sportswear with experience working with some of the biggest names in rugby and we believe they are the perfect choice for us moving forward. The new retail space will create a new hub for our supporters across the region and emphasise our focus on not only building a strong team on the field, but also a thriving community around it.”
“We can’t wait to unveil the new kit to our supporters, and we know that it will be a great source of pride for our fanbase. We look forward to working closely with Macron to create new and exciting opportunities for our fans to engage with us and experience the best that rugby has to offer. We are excited to see what the future holds for the Ospreys with Macron by our side.”
