Optical-effect, dye-sub graphics for the new shirts of Apoel FC

Plenty of style and refined graphics characterise the 2023-24 shirts of APOEL FC, the Cypriot club that boasts 28 national titles, 21 Cypriot Cups and 14 Cypriot Supercups. The new colours the Nicosia-based team will wear for the coming season in ‘A' Katīgoria’ respect the club’s traditional colours but add stylish new graphics and convey a message of sustainability and respect for the environment. The new kits are made from innovative Eco Fabric polyester materials derived entirely from recycled plastic. 

APOEL FC’s new ‘Home’ shirt has a V neck, yellow shoulders and sleeves with blue trim and three vertical bands in royal blue down the front. These bands contain the graphics that give the kit its character – a dye-sub striped pattern that fades from dark to light blue and from yellow to white. The resulting optical effect is striking indeed. The inside neck label uses the same custom graphics as a background and also bears the logo of APOEL FC, the words ‘ΑΠΟΕΛ EΛΛΉΝΩΝ’ (GREEK APOEL), the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and produced at Macron's Bologna headquarters. The words ‘APOEL FC’ are printed in royal blue on the back of the shirt under the neck. The Macron Hero appears in blue on the right of the chest, and the club’s badge on the left. A silicone tape at the bottom of the shirt is customised with words taken from a song sung by the team’s supporters on the terraces of the Neo GSP stadium, dedicated to the ‘brothers of APOEL who watch from above’ (Για τα αδέλφια όλα που κοιτάνε τώρα από τον ουρανό). The shorts are in royal blue with yellow drawstrings. The socks are in yellow with royal blue bands at the top containing two horizontal stripes in white and yellow.

The ‘Away’ shirt has yellow and blue stripes on the V neck and sleeve cuffs. The dominant colour us black. The dye-sub graphics on the front are formed by horizontal bands of stripes that alternate between yellow and royal blue and fade from the outside towards the inside, creating another striking optical effect. The inside neck label and the tape at the bottom of the shirt are customised in the same way as on the ‘Home’ version and the words ‘APOEL FC’ again appear in royal blue at the back of the neck, with the same yellow and blue details as on the bottom of the shirt. The shorts are black with yellow drawstrings. The black socks have two yellow and blue stripes at the top.

Both new shirts of APOEL FC are Slim Fit garments. The main material is Eco Softlock but Eco Mesh inserts have been added to reduce weight and improve breathability. The club’s match kits can be purchased from the macron.com website.
