MACRON TECHNICAL SPONSOR OF THE KOREA SEPAKTAKRAW ASSOCIATION

An ancient and exotic sport becomes part of the flourishing Macron community. Sepak takraw, a sport originating in Southeast Asia, is very similar to volleyball. The difference is that it is played with the feet, and the ball is made of woven rattan, a natural fibre derived from processing some climbing palms species.

Macron will be the new technical sponsor of the Korea Sepaktakraw Association for the next two seasons, an organisation founded in 1988 that has contributed to the development of this prevalent sport in this part of the world. Macron will provide the federation with technical apparel, developing a collection that considers the athletes' needs on the field, but with designs and graphic details that make the clothing line unique and exclusive.

"It is certainly a fascinating challenge to technically support the Korean Sepaktakraw Association," said Nicola Clerico, Country Manager for South - East Asia of Macron - The quality and technicality of our materials are well suited to many sports disciplines. The proof is that many federations of different sports have chosen Macron as a technical partner. The Asian market is significant for us. Being able to support a discipline as popular as sepaktakraw technically allows us to increase our brand's visibility make known the high quality of our products that will be made available to the players and staff of the Korean national team".

Sepaktakraw is an ancient sport that originated in Thailand and has been around since the 15th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the sport spread to many Asian countries and the United States and Europe. Each team consists of three players, and the winner is the one who manages to win three sets out of five (as in volleyball). The spectacularity characterises the sport, thanks to the athletes' ability to score points thanks to backhanded and acrobatic chops. It is no coincidence that many players have practised taekwondo in addition to volleyball and football, where speed and flexibility are fundamental skills.
