MACRON NAMED NEW TECHNICAL SPONSOR OF REPUBLICAN FOOTBALL CLUB AKHMAT

Macron has confirmed its first foray into the Russian Premier League with the announcement of a sponsorship agreement with Republican Football Club AKHMAT, a team from the Chechen capital of Grozny. The three-year deal will begin from next season.

RFC AKHMAT were originally founded under the name Dynamo in 1946, later changing their name to Neftyanik and then Terek in 1958. This name stuck until 2017, when the club was officially renamed RFC AKHMAT. The word Akhmat is a clear reference to Akhmat Kadyrov, the first president of the Chechen Republic. After his death, the main football arena of the Republic was named after him. RFC AKHMAT have won one trophy in their history, the Russian Cup in the 2003/04 season, becoming the first-ever team outside of the Russian Premier League to win the trophy. There was more success to come in that 2003/04 season, though, as the Club was indeed promoted to Russia's top flight for the first time.

The Macron styling department and the team at RFC AKHMAT are already working together to devise and develop the new match kits for the side for next season. The collection will encapsulate the signature Macron style, combining top-quality technical materials with a personalised design where every detail is afforded the greatest of attention. The history, tradition and symbols of the club will be highlighted and celebrated in order to deliver a unique and comprehensive line of clothing and merchandise, created with the fans in mind.
