Levante UD takes the field to score a goal against breast cancer
A club's shirt has an enormous emotional power. The Levante UD supporters know it well when they cheer for a goal scored by the Granotas' players on the field. Today, that emotion is joined by commitment and sharing in supporting the fight against breast cancer. On the occasion of the International Breast Cancer Day, which falls today, 19 October, the 'Granotas' have chosen to do something concrete, taking to the field with a special jersey dedicated to the 'Contra El Cáncer' initiative. Instead of the main sponsor, a representation of a mastectomy has been printed on the Levante UD Home 2023/24 shirt, featuring a drawing of a breast on one side and a scar on the other. A unique initiative in Spanish football, aiming to underline how research support can be the only way to defeat a disease that counts 35,000 new cases yearly in Spain. Breast cancer is the most common of those diagnosed in the country in 2023 and the third largest cause of death from cancer among women and men.
Shirts on sale to win an important match
The shirt is worn with a sense of belonging and pride, and this pride is amplified when you can help win an important match. Levante UD played a double match last Monday. Against Racing de Ferrol (winning 1-0) and against breast cancer. A commitment that all the players and the Azulgrana staff took on with great participation, demonstrating once again how sport, in this case football, can be an important vehicle for information, communication and involvement. The shirts worn by the players are on sale on the web platform 'Match Worn Shirt', and the proceeds will go entirely to the "Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer" (AECC).
Being heroes also in solidarity
When a match shirt becomes a vehicle for such an important initiative, it can only become a source of pride to wear it and spread the message as much as possible. For Macron, it is indeed a source of pride to be alongside a partner like Levante UD in a fight that requires a common effort and constant support for research. A teamwork that starts from the players on the field and sees the supporters themselves as the real protagonists, directly involved and called to action for such an important project. #BecomeYourOwnHero, because you can also be a hero in solidarity.
