Cádiz CF, a Special Edition shirt in honour of the Spanish Navy

Two shades of blue and the waves of the sea characterise the special edition shirt that Cádiz CF will wear at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium for their match against Celta Vigo. Macron and Cádiz CF conceived and designed the new shirt in honour of the Spanish Navy and the close links between one of the world’s oldest naval forces and Cádiz, the Andalusian city that is one of the Iberian peninsula’s most important ports.

The close ties between Cádiz and the Spanish navy date back over 500 years to when Magellan set off from nearby Seville on the first circumnavigation of the world, destined to be completed by the Spanish navigator and explorer Juan Sebastián Elcano. The Juan Sebastián de Elcano, a majestic sailing ship named in honour of the hero, was launched here in March 1927 and carried king Alfonso XIII from Cádiz to Málaga on its first voyage. The Juan Sebastián de Elcano is the training ship of the Spanish navy. The vessel is still based in Cádiz where it is crewed by a hundred or so students of the Escuela Naval.

This close and unique link with the sea and seafaring is clearly expressed in the design of the new shirt. Cádiz CF’s special kit is made entirely from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived exclusively from recycled plastic, demonstrating the commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment of both club and technical sponsor.

The Special Edition Shirt is characterised by an all-over graphic design created by brush strokes of white, light and dark blue in a pictorial arrangement that suggests the depth of the sea and the motion of the waves. The Macron Hero is embroidered in blue on the right of the chest while a patch bearing the Andalusian club’s court of arms is applied on the left. At the bottom left, against a blue background, is a dye-sub print of two of the most important and best known symbols of the world of sailing: an anchor and a wind rose. Behind the neck, in homage to the historic sailing vessel, is a dye-sub print of the ship’s name, ‘Juan Sebastian de Elcano’ and a graphic depicting the famous four master.

The slim fit shirt and is made mainly from Eco Gotex with an Eco Baimi panel at the back for improved lightness and breathability.
