Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, “The Macron Hero is ready to play alongside World Rugby in the Rugby World Cup”.

Today was an important day for world rugby in Macron’s Headquarters. Alan Gilpin, CEO of World Rugby, visited Macron’s offices in the run-up to the key event in the international rugby calendar, Rugby World Cup 2023, which kicks off on 8 September in France. Macron has been the official technical partner to World Rugby since January 2022, and supplies technical sportswear to the event’s teams of Emirates World Rugby match officials and staff, along with a line of official merchandise associated with the tournaments and competitions organised by rugby’s largest international body, which heads a movement of over 8 million players in 132 national federations.

Gilpin was welcomed by Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, and visited the Italian company’s Bologna HQ before meeting the journalists and, of course, speaking about the Rugby World Cup and its international significance. Given the valuable contribution that a sport like rugby can make to the causes of sustainability, inclusivity and the environment, it is essential for the event to achieve the targets contained in World Rugby’s Environmental Sustainability Plan 2030. Having a partner like Macron that shares the same values and moves in the same direction is essential to achieving the Plan’s objectives. The two partners play on the same team and have the same targets in mind.

World Rugby Chief Executive Officer, Alan Gilpin said: “Italy is at the heart of a global and growing sport. Not only as a rugby nation with a strong and ambitious national federation, but also in innovation and advancement of the sport, reflected in our relationship with Macron.

Macron’s leading technical expertise, coupled with a passion for performance and a respect of the environment, are qualities that align with our values and our mission to be a sport for all. We are all looking forward to seeing Macron’s leading performance wear in action at Rugby World Cup 2023 on the Emirates World Rugby Match Officials, participating teams and fans.

Rugby is our world, there is no doubt. Being able to partner World Rugby confirms the global reach the sport has achieved,” declared Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “Today, Alan Gilpin has seen the world of Macron for himself. He has seen how we work as a company, and seen the passion and dedication we put into every minute of the day in order to create something truly unique and worthwhile. Sporting values, attention to environmental issues and informed business choices are the routes we follow in order to make a difference. The Rugby World Cup is a special moment, the ‘zenith’ of the international rugby movement, and for us, working alongside World Rugby and the seven National teams that will play in Macron shirts in less than two months represents a great achievement and a moment to be treasured. We can’t wait to demonstrate the quality, technical performance and stylish design of our teamwear on such a vast stage. The Macron Hero is ready to play at Rugby World Cup 2023 and we’re right behind him”.
