Macron closes a record 2023 continuing on the path of double-digit growth
Macron, leading sportswear brand, closed the financial year 2023 with consolidated turnover of €196.6 million, an increase of 15.7% compared to the previous year (€170 million in 2022).
A double-digit growth path that characterises all three main lines of business: Teamwear recorded a 21% increase over 2022, Pro Clubs grew by 11% and Individual lines by 23%.
With a pro forma EBITDA of €33.8 million (€21.9 million in 2022), representing 17.2 per cent of sales, Macron demonstrates solid economic performance and sustainable growth.
Macron's first market remains the UK, followed by Italy and Spain, but growth has been broadly homogeneous across all the countries in which the brand operates. This confirms the international vision and multi-country strategy, with more than 80% of sales generated outside Italy.
The success is driven by innovative design, product quality and a distribution strategy focused on the single-brand network. The Macron Sports Hubs, which today are over 170 in more than 30 countries, are not just points of sale but real ambassadors of the brand's values and uniqueness.
Within Pro Clubs, Macron is among the top three brands in the UEFA rankings for technical sponsorship, with the Macron Hero featuring on the shirts of more than 90 professional clubs. In rugby, Macron confirms its position as the world's leading brand: 7 out of 20 national teams at the last World Cup wore Macron, as well as 3 out of 6 national teams (Italy, Scotland and Wales) in the Guinness Six Nations.
The beginning of 2024 marked a further milestone, with the opening of the US headquarters and distribution centre in Connecticut. At the same time, underlining the desire to grow in this market, the prestigious agreement with CONCACAF (the body that governs football in North America, Central America and the Caribbean) was initiated: Macron is the new 'Match Officials Kit Supplier' for the entire refereeing sector.
The announcement of a €25 million investment in the Macron Campus project, which will see the construction of two new buildings and double the size of the current headquarters to 100,000 square metres, is a testament to the company's long-term vision and commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
The adoption of cutting-edge technology solutions such as the 'SAP S/4HANA Cloud' ERP system and the Cegid Retail platform for the digital transformation of shops demonstrates a willingness to invest in the future, guaranteeing that Macron continues to be a synonym for quality, innovation and sustainable growth in the world of sportswear.
Macron looks to the future with determination and optimism, ready to seize new opportunities and continue to inspire athletes around the world with products that combine performance, style and passion.
"There is great satisfaction in reviewing the record figures for 2023, the many projects we have realised and the important initiatives we are pursuing," said Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron.– Within the Company, the enthusiasm, commitment and determination to deliver on the promise inherent in our name to make Macron an increasingly large and global company are truly tangible. The investments in the United States, but also on our territory with the realisation of the Macron Campus project, are fundamental to make our dream come true and to continue on this ongoing path of growth, which starts from our Italian roots and looks to the world."
