History and identity on Crystal Palace FC’s new Home shirt

The last Crystal Palace FC game of the 2022-23 Premier League season will feature an important change. On the occasion of the club facing Nottingham Forest, scheduled for Sunday 28th of May, the Eagles will take the pitch wearing their brand new Home kit, made of red and blue halves to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the historic promotion to the Premier League in the 2013/14 season.

Crystal Palace Football Club, formed in 1861 before turning professional in 1905, is one of the world’s oldest football clubs and the graphics of their new shirt underlines the close links between the team’s origins and the famous building that gave the club its very name. The kit also delivers a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment, being made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material 100% derived from recycled plastic, meaning 13 x 0.5lt bottles were recycled and used in every shirt.

The new ‘Home’ shirt for the 2023-24 season maintains the classic colours of red and blue, subdivided into two halves: red on the wearer’s right and blue on their left. The crewneck collar and sleeve cuffs are detailed with white, red and blue pinstripes. The inside neck label features a blue background with the club’s badge and the letters ‘CPFC’ along with the Macron logo and the wording ‘Designed in Bologna’ to signify that every garment is conceived and designed in Macron Headquarters. The word ‘EAGLES’ is printed in white on the rear of the collar. The Macron Hero logo appears on the right side of the chest, and the Crystal Palace badge on the left. Both logos are 3D silicone printed with a silk effect undertone.

The graphics of the new shirt feature a tone-on-tone, dye-sub motif of the famous ‘Crystal Palace’, the iron and glass structure and masterpiece of engineering built for London’s Great Exhibition of 1851. This is how the story of the club began: Crystal Palace Football Club was formed ten years after the exhibition by a group of employees of the Crystal Palace Company. The club’s name has remained unchanged ever since.

The new Home kit is completed by blue shorts with red stripes at the sides and blue socks with two thin lines in red and white around the fold. The slim-fit shirt is made from Eco Sirena Light with a panel of Eco micromesh in the back for reduced weight and improved breathability.
