Macron new technical partner of Connacht

The Macron family continues to grow and establish itself in the rugby world, and welcomes for the first time one of the most important Irish franchises in the sport. The long-term technical partnership agreement with Connacht Rugby involves the supply of technical apparel to the Professional men’s team, who play in the United Rugby Championship and the European Champions Cup from next season, as well as their Women’s and Age Grade squads. This collaboration shows further evidence of the global level Macron has reached in rugby in terms of quality, technicality, style and customisation of the garments, specifically designed for the world of the oval ball.

Connacht Rugby is a club rich in history and tradition, whose foundation dates back to 1885. It plays its home matches at The Sportsground in Galway, and its crest takes its cue from the Connacht province’s flag, representing the union of an eagle and an arm wielding a sword. The club also does excellent work at provincial level to spread the word about rugby, given the steady increase in young Irish people taking up the sport.

We are delighted to announce this partnership with Connacht Rugby, Macron’s first Irish rugby club,” commented Ross Cook, Sr Sports Marketing Manager for Macron. “Our leadership in rugby is growing stronger every day, and we are delighted to welcome Connacht Rugby to our large family. It is an agreement that involves a long journey together, and it is very exciting to work side by side with them. The intention is to develop match kits and apparel of high quality and technicality, as well as innovative designs and customised graphics, to best express the identity, colours and symbols of a club with 138 years of history”.

Philip Patterson, Head of Commercial & Marketing at Connacht Rugby says: “As the Connacht Rugby brand continues to grow, it was vital for us to find an Official Kit Partner who can help us take that brand to the next level, during such a transformative period for the club. That’s why I’m absolutely delighted that we have come to an agreement with Macron who, for the next years, will produce all official Connacht Rugby apparel. We’ve been in discussions with Ross and his team in Italy for a number of months now and we’re incredibly excited by how our two organisations can creatively work together. The new Connacht Rugby jerseys, training wear and leisure wear will be a sure-fire hit with supporters when they start to hit the shelves, exclusively at Intersport Elverys, later this summer.”
