THE BOLOGNESE PARATHLETE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED HIS FIRST HANDBIKE MARATHON IN BERLIN. HIS FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS TOLD IN A VIDEO.

The light in Omar Bortolacelli's eyes when, last September 25, he crossed with the finish line of the Berlin Marathon on his handbike, is the same he had in June 2021 at the end of the exoskeleton climb to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca in Bologna. The joy of the man that reached hisr goal by sacrificing and digging deep to push himself beyond his limits.

His arms burned as he pushedbut his mind remained focused on the end goal. With the Brandenburg Gate in sight, the trees of the Tiergarten signalled the end the long challenged fulfilled. Omar had done it by covering over 42 km in an incredible 1h58'54”. What an amazing result in the knowledge that by working hard and believing in himself, his only boundaries are the limit of his imagination for the next challenge but with every achievement he becomes the best version of himself. This is the umpteenth feat for the 38 years old from Bologna, Omar Bortolacelli who has spent the last 11 years in a wheelchair due to an accident and now his story can be told in this video. His feelings and the effort put in preparing for this event along with the everyday challenge to improve himself and all of the emotion from the start to the finish line. His smile and that beaming enthusiasm in his eyes as he finishes after taking his body and mind to dark places to achieve this feat. Body, mind and spirit are three elements that have helped to make the wheels of the handbike spin quicker and have allowed Omar to achieve this new athletic and personal success.

These moments shows what commitment, passion, sacrifies andwillpower can achieve. A hero digs deep and never gives up and Omar at the finish line of the Berlin Marathon has proved this once again.
