A new design for the 22-23 Welsh Rugby Union collection

A new design for the 22-23 Welsh Rugby Union collection

A fascinating but tough season lies ahead, and all the teams of the Welsh Rugby Union are gearing up for the challenge. The national sides include the men’s team and women’s team, who will take part in the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand next few days, 7s’ team (recently returned from the Rugby World Cup in South Africa) and youth side. Preparation, of course, starts with the kits for matches, training and travel.

At the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, the Welsh women’s team will wear a ‘Home’ shirt in ‘Welsh red’ with a white trimmed V neck. A dye-sub print on the breast features lines in a lighter red that form a V shape starting from the bottom of the Welsh team badge. The ‘Away’ shirt is in total black with green and white trim on the neck and sleeves. Irregular geometric figures appear in tone on tone graphics on the front and back of the shirt.

The new kits for the Pathway and 7’s teams share a common design that replicates the wave form of the Welsh national anthem in a dye-sub print on the front and sleeves of the shirt, and is repeated in embossed graphics on the back. The ‘Home’ shirt for the pathway, sevens and women’s teams is a crew neck garment in classic ‘Welsh red’. The neck and sleeves feature a striped trim in the colours green-white-green. Green also appears on the shoulder inserts and at the bottom of the shirt front. The Macron Hero logo is embroidered on the right breast and the badge of the Welsh Rugby Union takes its place over the heart. A graphic representation of the Welsh national anthem also characterises the ‘Away’ kit which features white shirts with a fade effect on the sleeves, which are partly in dark green with red and white cuffs. On these shirts too the wave form graphics are tone on tone dye-sub printed on the front and embossed on the back.

All the kits are made in Eco-Fabric, a 100% polyester derived from recycled plastic and certified by Global Recycled Standard. In particular, the kits use Eco-Armevo and Eco-Bodytex fabrics for lightness, breathability and exceptional strength. In making this choice, both Macron and the Welsh Rugby Union want to send out a clear message in support of sustainability and respect for the environment.

The elegant and varied training and travel collections start with an exclusive Anthem Jacket in Welsh red with diagonal white stripes on the sleeves and bottom. The collection of shirts, vests, shorts, sweatshirts and training trousers comes in black and grey. In the collection dedicated to the youth side, a black dye-sub graphic representing the wave form of the national anthem appears in the centre of the training shirt, and is repeated in anthracite grey on the sleeves.

The colours black and grey, with tone on tone geometric graphics, feature on most of the garments in the travel line. Sweatshirts with and without hood, polo shirts, T-shirts, trousers and shorts, jackets and body warmers are all made from premium technical materials and decorated with elegant and exclusive designs.
