Macron returns as technical partner of Crystal Palace FC

Together again. Macron, the international leader in teamwear, is the new technical partner of the renowned English club Crystal Palace FC. Starting next season, the Macron Hero logo will appear on the iconic shirts of the London “Eagles”. Macron and Crystal Palace FC have signed a long-term agreement that comes into effect on 1st July, ahead of the club’s tenth consecutive season in the Premier League. The two are truly reuniting, as Macron served as technical sponsor to the team from 2014 to 2018.

Crystal Palace FC plays a unique part in the history of football. The club’s name is derived from the iron and glass “crystal palace” built to house London’s Great Exhibition in 1851. The stories of most English clubs are deeply rooted in history. In the case of Crystal Palace, the club can be traced back to a cricket field and a group of players associated with the company that built the famous palace. The club recently confirmed plans to amend its crest to feature 1861, the year that the original team was set up by cricketers from the Crystal Palace Club, replacing 1905 on the badge, the year when the professional Club was founded. This new crest will feature for the first time on the new playing kits, which are soon to be unveiled. The year 1861 is highly significant, because in addition to beginning the story of the “Red and Blues”, it also established Crystal Palace as the world’s oldest professional football club. The name The Eagles (previously also known as The Glaziers) is associated with the birth of the Football Association. In addition to being the oldest name in English professional football, the club also played in the first ever FA Cup.

“We are delighted to renew our partnership with Crystal Palace FC, which first began in 2014,” declares Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “It’s exciting and stimulating to work with a club that represents the history of English football and is eager to play a leading role in the Premier League. Macron and Crystal Palace FC share the same sense of belonging, pride, tenacity, courage and winning spirit, and we are determined to convey this message along with the club’s history and symbols. This is the reasoning behind new kits made from technically innovative, high performance fabrics featuring the very best in style and design.”

Crystal Palace commercial director Barry Webber added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Macron having worked with them successfully in the past, and we are excited to be collaborating with them again. Macron is known for its innovation in materials and style, and we are looking forward to presenting the kits for the season ahead to supporters in the coming weeks”.
