THE NEW ITALRUGBY SHIRTS ARE LIGHT BLUE & WHITE, AND ‘GREEN’ AT HEART
Italy’s signature shade of blue is indisputably the winning colour of summer 2021, so it is fitting that this precise shade has been chosen for the new Home shirt, together with white for the new Away jersey, presented by the Italian Rugby Federation and Macron, the Hero company, and set to be worn by all the men’s and women’s national sides for international fixtures in the 2021-2022 calendar. Along with the traditional colours that represent Italian rugby globally, the shirts are also ‘green’ at heart, as they champion sustainability and respect for the environment.
The match kits of the azzurri are made from Eco-Fabric, 100% polyester obtained from recycled plastic and certified by the Global Recycled Standard. Macron is a huge sustainability champion and adopts green principles in all its operations, as well as incorporating state-of-the-art technology into its production processes to ensure that the environment is looked after. Choices that are also supported and embraced by the Italian Rugby Federation.
The new Home shirt is once again in the traditional Italian blue and sports a V neck trimmed in white. The backneck is customised with the F.I.R. crest. White details also feature on the edge of the sleeves and on the side panels. The Italian teamwear brand’s Macron Hero logo is appliquéd in white on the right breast, with the Italian Rugby Federation crest on the left. The outside back collar sports a tone-on-tone print that reads ITALIA, with the Italian flag underneath. The home kit’s standout feature is the tone-on-tone dye-sub print with a pixelated, ombré fade effect on the front of the jersey.
The ‘Away’ version is white and follows the stylistic lead of the Home shirt. The V-neck is trimmed in Italian blue, echoing the blue details on the sleeves and on the side panels. The backneck is customised and the outside back collar sports a tone-on-tone print that reads ITALIA and the Italian tricolor flag. The Macron Hero is in blue on the right breast, with the F.I.R. crest on the left. In this case too, the front of the shirt sports a pixelated effect print with an ombré fade effect from the top down.
All the shirts have a muscle fit and the fabrics used are Eco-Armevo with panels in Eco-Boditex, materials which as well as being lightweight and breathable, are also extremely hard-wearing.
