The Aalborg Tower featured on the new eco-fabric shirts of Aalborg BK
Aalborg, the capital of the North Jutland region, is the northernmost of Denmark’s four main cities and is often referred to as the little “Paris of the North”. This reference is reflected in the new shirts that the Danish Superliga club Aalborg BK recently presented in conjunction with Macron, the international leader in teamwear and technical sponsor to the team as they prepare for the coming season.
The new match kits respect the team’s traditional colours and pay homage to one of the city’s best known landmarks, the Aalborgtårnet, a panoramic tower constructed in 1933 that affords visitors a fantastic view over the city and is designed to resemble the more famous Eiffel Tower in Paris. Complementing the graphic details and overall designs of the new kit, the shirts also demonstrate the Danish club’s renewed commitment to the environment, as they are made from Eco-Fabric, a polyester material produced from 100% recycled plastic and certified according to the Global Recycled Standard.
The new crew-neck “Home” shirt features the cub’s traditional vertical red and white stripes with a dye-sub printed graphic representing the steel structure of the Aalborg Tower appearing inside the red stripes. The sleeves are decorated with the same design. A red backneck label is customised with the team’s logo and the words “NORDENS PARIS” (Paris of the North), with an image of the Aalborg Tower alongside. A sweatband inside the neck carries the motto “Altid for AaB – altid for Aalborg” (Always for AaB – Always for Aalborg). The year in which the club was formed, 1885, appears at the back of the neck. The Macron Hero logo is reproduced on the right of the chest and the Aalborg BK club badge on the left. The shorts are in white with two red stripes at the sides. The red socks have a large white band at the top containing two horizontal red stripes.
The “Away” shirt is in navy blue with crew neck and sleeve cuffs in white. It features an all-over, front and back, mimetic graphic that fades towards the bottom, representing the metal structure of the Aalborg Tower. The Macron Hero logo appears in red, with the club’s badge on the other side of the chest. The backneck and neck sweatband are customised in the same way as the “Home” shirt, and the year in which the club was formed is also embroidered on the back. The shorts are in navy blue with white drawstrings. The socks are also in navy blue with two horizontal red and white stripes running round the middle.
All versions of the shirt are slim fit. The shirts are made from Eco-Softlock fabric with Eco-Mesh inserts, making them lightweight and fully breathable.
