NEW CARDIFF RUGBY SHIRTS INCORPORATE SKY BLUE AND BLACK
The 2021/22 season promises to be a key milestone in the history of the Cardiff Blues, who will now be known as Cardiff Rugby. The switch sees the club return to their traditional name and an adapted logo as it looks to expand its horizons both nationally and internationally – to fully embrace its 145 years of history and the famous blue and black colour scheme of its kits. Cardiff Rugby and Macron – the Hero company and the Welsh club’s technical sponsor – have now unveiled the new match kits for the upcoming 2021/22 season.
The new Home kit, in light blue, features a crewneck collar with black trim and neon yellow bartack. The back of the neck is personalised with the club's new logo, while detailing from the logo creates a backdrop to this. The sweatband tape inside the collar is adorned with the club’s motto in Welsh and English: Nerth Trwy Undod – Strenght Through Unity. On the front, the Italian brand's Macron Hero logo appears in sublimation print on the right breast, with the Cardiff Rugby crest on the left, over the heart. The Welsh flag is printed on the rear of the collar. One of the distinguishing features of the new kit is the embossed graphic of sleek, tone-on-tone diagonal lines on the front, covering the three large horizontal stripes. Completing the Home kit are blue shorts with black stripes at the sides, plus blue socks with black trim at the top and a white horizontal stripe just under this.
The black Away version mirrors the design and detailing of the home kit. The crewneck collar features sky blue trim and neon yellow bartack, while there is also blue trim around the sleeves. In a change from the home kit, the logo on this jersey has been produced in Welsh and reads ‘Rygbi Caerdydd’ The back of the neck and the sweatband tape are personalised with the club’s logo and motto in English and Welsh. Meanwhile, the Macron Hero logo and the Cardiff Rugby badge are positioned on the chest and the Welsh flag has pride of place on the rear of the collar. The same graphic detailing as the Home kit reappears here, with black as the base colour and tone-on-tone, diagonal embossed stripes. The black shorts have blue stripes at the sides, while the black socks feature a blue stripe at the top with a white stripe underneath this.
Following the success of the club’s name change a special blue and black third kit has been produced to fully reflect the 145-year history.Like the home and away jerseys, this blue and black striped jersey also features the graphic of sleek, tone-on-tone diagonal lines on the front, while on the back - in a further nod to history - there is an embossed skull and crossbones. This has been taken from the first Cardiff RFC jersey in 1876.
The shirts are in Body fit, while the fabrics used are Armevo and Bodytex, which guarantee lightness, breathability and maximum strength.
