Macron’s new kits for Edinburgh Rugby focus on tradition, history and identity

Navy blue, reflex blue, burned orange, and white are the iconic colours of Edinburgh Rugby, which will accompany the Scottish club for matches in the United Rugby Championship and the EPCR Challenge Cup next season. The club has just revealed its new Home and Away Kits, and these colours will once again express the traditions and history of Edinburgh Rugby, whom Macron has partnered with since 2009.

The new Edinburgh Rugby Home kit is navy blue and has a polo neck with details in reflex blue. The sleeve cuffs are in the same colour and feature a thin orange line, too. The shirt has an all-over, tone-on-tone, dye-sub printed graphics made up of a series of wavy lines that interweave to create an impression of movement. The inside neck label is customised with these graphics and the club’s badge on the right. Two diagonal lines in the team’s colours separate the badge from the Macron logo and the words Designed in Bologna, which certify that the garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus. A sweatband around the inside of the neck is customised with the words ‘ALWAYS EDINBURGH’. The Macron Hero is dye-sub printed in orange on the right of the chest and the club badge on the left. Embroidered in white at the back of the neck are the words ‘BUILT ON SEVEN HILLS’ referring to the fact that the Scottish capital extends over Castle Rock, Calton Hill, Corstorphine Hill, Craiglockhart Hill, Braid Hill, Blackford Hill and Arthur’s Seat. The Home kit is completed with navy blue shorts that repeat the shirt’s graphics on the sides and navy blue socks with a reflex blue top containing a thin orange line. Just above the ankle at the front is an orange Macron Hero while, at the same height at the back, the date 1872 commemorates the club’s founding.

Burned orange is the dominant colour of the Away shirt, which has a polo neck and sleeve cuffs in white with a thin navy blue line. The front, back and sleeves feature a shaded effect with tone-on-tone, dye-sub graphics composed of thin horizontal lines. The inside label is customised in the same way as that of the Home shirt, and the neck has the same custom sweatband bearing the words ‘ALWAYS EDINBURGH’.  The Macron Hero and the badge of Edinburgh Rugby appear on the chest, both in white. At the back of the neck, the words ‘EST 1872' celebrate the year the Scottish club was formed. The white shorts have black drawstrings and orange bands down the sides that repeat the shirt’s graphics. The socks are orange with a white top containing a thin navy blue line. A white Macron Hero appears on the front just above the ankle, while the date 1872, also in white, occupies the same position at the back.

Like all the technical sportswear Macron produces for its partner clubs, these new Body Fit shirts are made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic. In particular, the shirts are made mainly from Eco Armevo but with Eco Boditex and Eco Strong Mesh inserts for superior strength and performance, reduced weight and improved breathability. Along with all other garments in Macron’s Edinburgh Rugby teamwear line, the new kits can be purchased from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the club.
