MACRON TECHNICAL SPONSOR FOR THE ITALIAN FLYING DISC FEDERATION

The Italian Flying Disc Federation and Macron, the Hero company and international leader in teamwear, have announced a technical sponsorship agreement. For the next two years, the Italian brand will supply race kits and technical apparel to the Federation, granting all FIFD affiliates the possibility to make use of the contract.

FIFD, founded in 1979 and based in Bologna, is the sports federation that governs the Flying Disc disciplines. Today it has 29 affiliated companies and almost 2,000 registered members, 120 federal technicians and 16 national teams in different categories and divisions (Open, Women, Mixed), with excellent results and placings in international events.

Frisbee is a discipline whose origins go back to the 1930s. The American confectionery company "Frisbie Pie Co." used to supply the university canteens in Connecticut with cakes and pies which, once consumed, left empty round trays in the hands of the students. Partly as a joke and partly for fun, these trays began to be thrown, leading to the discovery that they could actually fly. From metal to plastic, with a few different names along the way, we've arrived at the present Frisbee. What was once a friendly lunchtime activity, now a prevalent discipline with a name inspired by the original baker who supplied cakes to the students in Connecticut.
