MACRON AND SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY ANNOUNCE NEW LONG TERM PARTNERSHIP
A new technical partnership agreement is concluded with one of the oldest football clubs in the world, Sheffield Wednesday. Macron and the Owls have signed a momentous long-term agreement which will see the two collaborating from the start of the 2021/22 season.
Founded in 1867, Sheffield Wednesday are one of the 12 clubs that created the Football Alliance and won the inaugural season of the championship. In their long history, the Owls have won four national championships, three FA Cups, one League Cup and a Charity Shield. One particular characteristic about the Owls is they are the only club on record to have a weekday in their name. This comes from the fact that the club was founded as a cricket team, and Wednesday was the day off for the workers that made up the majority of its players - therefore Wednesday was game day.
Macron will provide Sheffield Wednesday with bespoke matchday kits, technical training and travel wear and a merchandising line for the first team and academy. Every article will be recognisable for its distinguishing made in Italy style and design. Technicity, high quality and attention to detail have made the brand a leader in sportswear design. These qualities show the attentive research and graphic personalization that Macron uses to tell the history, the tradition, the specific colours and the symbolism of the clubs. The 154-year history of Sheffield Wednesday provides an enormous archive, from which Macron and the club will be able to draw inspiration to narrate, in shirts and merchandising collection, which is perfectly echoed by the values of the Macron Hero.
“Gianluca Pavanello, Macron CEO- We are so proud that such a historical club like Sheffield Wednesday has chosen to wear the Macron Hero. We have already established a great relationship with the club, which will certainly grow and develop in the upcoming years that we have decided to spend together. Sporting values, team spirit and commitment will allow us to reach our goals with hard work and a never give up attitude. These are the elements of our philosophy and we found them in this club that carries on its shoulders one and a half centuries of sporting history. We try to communicate with our apparel this heritage, tradition, emotion, and the sentiment of belonging to both the players and fans alike.”
Owls’ Chief Operations Officer, Liam Dooley, said: “We are thrilled to officially announce Macron as our new Official Technical Kit Partner. Macron are renowned for the design and quality of their kits and we are really excited about our new range for the 2021/22 season and beyond. We are pleased that we have agreed a long-term deal, which not only provides the club with a great commercial package but will offer our fans fantastic quality kits for many years to come.”
