Apicolturaurbana.it, a new step in the Macron 4 The Planet project
A new and important piece fits into the path of environmental sustainability that is summed up in the Macron 4 the Planet project. An apiary has been installed in the company's green spaces in collaboration with Apicolturaurbana.it, a landmark company for biodiversity protection projects in Italy.
Protecting bees and the planet is part of Macron's green philosophy aimed at corporate sustainability, and it was for this very purpose that it was decided to install three beehives in the outdoor space of the headquarters in Valsamoggia. Protecting biodiversity, as well as the quality and health of the environment, are behaviours and actions that must belong to the daily routine of a company that firmly believes in the path of sustainability. Macron 4 the Planet means not only implementing good production and process management practices, but, as in this case, also making company space available for initiatives such as Apicoltura Urbana, aimed at safeguarding a species that plays an essential role in our ecosystem.
Macron 4 the Planet, and the philosophy behind it, also wants to help defend bees from a worrying trend of depopulation that would have catastrophic effects on the environment. Saving them is in everyone's interest in every respect, and is a virtuous choice and behaviour that benefits future generations.
The Apicolturaurbana.it project includes the assistance of a beekeeping technician, who will take care of the bees by caring for them throughout the year with periodic visits. Awareness-raising workshops aimed towards employees on the topic of biodiversity and importance of bees are planned, including creating a new awareness of the social and organizational dynamics that have made this insect the symbol of industriousness and collaboration toward a common goal. Last, but not least, these hives will produce honey using organic methods: a very high quality, zero-mile, sustainable, and organic "Macron" honey.
"In our choice to do everything we can, as a company and as people, to defend and respect the environment, hosting these beehives in our company's green spaces was a decision we are very proud of,” said Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “It is an exciting project that involves all of us. It is a choice of responsibility and the industriousness and continuous activity of the bees, the daily commitment in flying from flower to flower to collect the nectar that will become honey, the discipline, dedication, precision, and cooperation that reigns in a beehive, fits perfectly with our motto 'Work Hard. Play Harder.'"
