A homage to the Palazzi dei Rolli on Macron’s new kits for U.C. Sampdoria’s 2024/25 season

To add character to next season’s shirts, U.C. Sampdoria has chosen a period in the history of Genova, between the Renaissance and the Baroque period, when, by state decree, the city designed and built a series of noble palazzos with stupendous stucco and marble facades, grandiose entrance halls, spectacular open stairways, splendid gardens and sumptuous loggias and salons to house the visiting dignitaries of other states. The Palazzi dei Rolli in the centre if Genova are already classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Now they have also provided the inspiration for the U.C. Sampdoria’s kits for the coming season. The new kits are inspired by history and tradition, but Macron has also found innovative ways to enhance their timeless fascination. For next season, the ‘most beautiful shirt in the world’ has been given stylish and elegant graphics that form a common denominator between all three of the 'Blucerchiate' kits.

U.C. Sampdoria’s new 2024/25 ‘Home’ shirt maintains the traditional and timeless Blucerchiati design, with a horizontal band of royal blue providing a background for four white, red, black and white stripes with the shield of Saint George in the middle. The neck is a vintage V, simulating a classic design complete with drawstring closure. The upper part of the shirt and the shoulders feature embossed, tone on tone graphics inspired by the seventeenth-century ornamental motifs that decorate the Rolli palaces. The inside neck label is customised with a background taken from the shirt’s graphics, the colours of the club, the words ‘Genova 12 agosto 1946’ (Genoa 12 August 1946 – the date U.C. Sampdoria was formed), the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and produced at the Macron Campus. Silicone-printed on the chest are the Macron Hero on the right and the club badge on the left. Behind the neck in navy blue are printed the words ‘DALE DORIA’ taken from the chorus chanted by the team’s supporters. The basketball-style shorts are in white with the club’s colours on the leg bottoms at the back and on a diagonal band at the sides. The royal blue socks have a navy blue top with the Blue-circled band.

The ‘Away’ shirt is in white with gold details around the neck and on the sleeve cuffs. Between the right shoulder and the shirt bottom runs a vertical Blucerchiata band inside which the Renaissance graphics of the ‘Home’ shirt are repeated – graphics that are also embossed on the sleeves and back yoke. The Macron Hero appears in gold on the chest alongside the badge of U.C. Sampdoria, while the shield of Saint George takes its place in the centre. The inside neck label and the words printed in gold behind the neck are as on the ‘Home’ shirt. The shorts are in royal blue with details in Blue-circled colours. The socks are white with a thin, horizontal gold line in the centre of the cuff and a vertical Blue-circled stripe on the calf.

The club’s new ‘Third’ shirt is in navy blue and has a polo neck with Blucherchiati details. The sleeve cuffs, the Macron Hero on the chest and the phrase ‘DALE DORIA’ behind the neck are all in fluorescent blue. The graphics inspired by the ornamental motifs on the walls and ceilings of the Rolli palaces reappear in embossed form on the ‘Third’ shirt, covering the front and sleeves. A Blucerchiata band with the shield of Saint George runs around the middle of the shirt. On the left of the chest is a Sampdoria badge replicating that of the mid-1960s. The kit is completed by navy blue shorts with Blucerchiati details and navy blue socks around the top of which runs a fluorescent blue band with the Blucerchiati colours in the middle.

All U.C. Sampdoria’s new shirts are Slim Fit garments and, like all the kits Macron produces for its partnered clubs, are made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material 100% derived from recycled post-consumer plastic. More specifically, the main fabric is Eco Softlock, with a panel of Eco Micromesh in the back and Eco Mesh inserts for reduced weight and perfect breathability.

Along with all the other items of teamwear and merchandise that Macron produces for U.C. Sampdoria, the new shirts can be purchased from Samp City, from the Macron Sports Hub in Genova, from the club’s website and from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to U.C. Sampdoria.
