AEK BC to wear the Macron Hero on Greece’s basketball courts in 2023-24

One of Greece’s top basketball clubs has joined the Macron family. AEK BC, one of the most historical clubs in Greece, will be wearing the Macron Hero on their chests, not only for the 2023-24 season, but also for the next five years, both in national championship games and in European competitions.

AEK BC, who will be celebrating their centenary next year, was the first Greek basketball team to reach the Final Four in the FIBA Europe Champions Cup, in 1966. Only two years later, in 1968, AEK became the first Greek team to win a European title when they beat Slavia Prague, and took home the European Cup trophy. The game was played in front of 80’000 fans, which still today holds the Guinness World Record in basketball attendance. The club’s trophy cabinet contains a large number of national and international trophies including 8 Greek League trophies, 5 Greek Cups, 1 Basketball Champions League trophy, 1 European Cup trophy, 1 FIBA Saporta Cup and 1 FIBA Intercontinental Cup.

This story of almost 100 years is destined to continue on the court and on the jersey of this great Greek club. AEK Athens’ sporting traditions certainly provide plenty of ideas for developing a range of teamwear capable of expressing the club’s identity through high-tech fabrics, advanced designs and attention to detail.

We are delighted to support a great club like AEK BC as partners,” declares Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “Celebrating AEK’s centenary year with the team will give us plenty of scope to convey the club’s identity and long history through a dedicated line of teamwear. We look forward to designing a series of unique garments that the players and the fans of the ‘yellow and blacks’ will be able to wear with pride, on the court and in the seating.

Mavroeidis Angelopoulos, AEK BC’s President declared: “We are very happy that our centenary anniversary will be combined with a new era in the club’s teamwear and a leading European sportswear brand such a Macron. We are looking forward to winning new trophies in the Macron jersey and hope that our fans will enjoy the historical designs”.
