EUROPE ON THE NEW MACRON SHIRTS FOR THE UEFA EURO 2020 MATCH OFFICIALS

After a year-long wait, June 11 will finally mark the official start of the final phase of the UEFA EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - 16th Edition. One referee amongst the 18 engaged in the championship will be selected to blow the whistle of the opening game, Italy vs Turkey, and will take the field wearing a highly technical bespoke Macron kit.

For the first time in sixty years and since the birth of the competition, eleven stadiums and cities will be the frame and the stage of the games, during which 24 nations will be involved in the fight for the final goal. The Olympic Stadium in Rome, the opening stage of the “Euro for Europe”, was also the ideal set for the video for the official presentation of the new UEFA Euro 2020 referee uniforms. The video is the result of a collaboration between UEFA and Macron and it features a few excellent names from the world of European referees: Daniele Orsato from Italy, Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz from Spain, Stephanie Frappart and Clément Turpin from France.

“We are all looking forward to UEFA EURO 2020 getting underway and we are delighted with the kits that Macron have produced for our match officials,” said UEFA's Chief Refereeing Officer Roberto Rosetti. "This is a company that is always pushing the boundaries to come up with the latest innovations to ensure that referees feel as comfortable as possible when undertaking such an important and high-pressured role on the field of play."

The new shirts come in the traditional black, neon yellow, neon light blue and neon pink and are characterized by a tone on tone embossed print in the front featuring a map of Europe on which boundaries and barriers have been erased, to convey the sense of a community in which the referee becomes the ideal trait d’union amongst nations, a super partes hero.
