National identity, symbols of the territory and a “green” choice in the new jerseys of all Canadian premier league clubs
On April 8th, York United and HFX Wanderers will officially open the fourth season of the Canadian Premier League. Since its inception, Macron has been the technical partner and sole official kit supplier to the eight clubs which participate in the league (Atlético Ottawa, HFX Wanderers FC, York United FC, Forge FC, Valor FC, FC Edmonton, Cavalry FC and Pacific FC).
The Hero company and CPL have unveiled the new Primary match kits that the teams will be wearing this season. All match kits are made using Eco-Fabric, made from 100% recycled plastic and certified by the Global Recycled Standard, confirming their shared commitment to greater environmental sustainability.
The new jerseys have been designed so that each one is unique and exclusive and at the same time represents the unity of the Canadian Premier League sporting project. The League's motto 'We are MANY We are ONE' personalises the outer backneck of all the uniforms, whilst the logo of the CPL and the words 'FOR CANADIANS, BY CANADIANS' are found on the inner backneck.
Through close collaboration, the Italian brand's style and design department and CPL staff have produced a collection of highly technical and symbolic garments using high quality yet eco-friendly materials, designed with great attention to detail. Specific graphics based on historical research have been used to best highlight, for each club, the identity and sense of belonging to the particular city and territory they represent.
The graphics, along with the club colours, are the detail that allows each club's historical, geographical and emotional references to be 'told' and enhanced. Pacific FC's jersey - reigning champions of the CPL - along with the traditional purple and light blue colours, features a graphic that recalls the branches of the Douglas fir, typical of British Columbia. Two-time champion Forge FC combines orange and grey with a flame and maple leaf design. The Cavalry FC uniforms feature graphics of triangles and diamonds, shapes found in buildings and places in Calgary. Blue, white, sophisticated geometric graphics and the ever-present Rally Rabbit characterise the FC Edmonton jersey. The Valour FC shirt features a simple but attractive design combining black, garnet and gold. White, York Green, Lake Ontario Blue and Victory Gold characterise York United's uniforms. Blue, sky blue and ocean waves on the HFX Wanderers primary jersey and, finally, the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and its locks inspire the graphics on the Atletico Ottawa jersey, which retains the layout of the Madrid Colchoneros jersey.
