Macron Sports Hubs: a global sales network
The Macron Sports Hub project is a new frontier in the sale of sportswear and technical sport accessories. The project began in 2010 with 28 initial stores, all sharing a format this is still unique and distinctive. Today, the network boasts 167 single-brand stores in locations all over the world. 17 new stores opened in 2023: 5 in Spain, 3 in the UK, 2 in France and Italy and one in Switzerland (Zurich), the Czech Republic (Prague), Greece (Larissa), Germany (Hamburg) and South Africa (Johannesburg). The stores in Prague and Johannesburg are the first to open in these countries.
167 Macron Sports Hubs in over 30 countries. Italy is ‘naturally’ the country with the largest number of stores: 47. Next comes another important and strategic market for Macron, and indeed the largest in terms of turnover: the UK with 34 stores. France (15) and Spain (12) follow, along with Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux countries, Nordic nations, Greece, Malta and Cyprus. Macron also has a significant presence in the U.S. and Canada, Latin America, Oceania and the Middle East. The project foresees many additional openings in coming years. Macron plans to open at least 15 new stores in 2024 alone.
These figures reflect the growth and determination to invest in international markets of a company that derives 80% of its turnover from exports. Every Macron Sport Hub has a similar approach all over the world and offers tailored services to all sports clubs, large and small. The stores provide a dedicated space for clubs to view products and make informed choices of fabrics, styles, colours, combinations and customisations for their teams’ match kits. They employ graphic designers and staff trained to advise on the best ways to customise Macron garments. And they provide spaces for organising events, presentations, press conferences and workshops too.
In addition to new store openings, in keeping with Macron’s policy of continuous evolution, many stores are receiving a make-over or moving to new premises while still respecting the same philosophy that has always characterised Macron Sports Hubs and made them a point of reference for sports players, supporters and the many clubs that have chosen to display the Macron Hero logo on their kits. In 2023 alone, 32 of the 167 single-brand stores around the world were given a new look.
“The Macron Sports Hub project is a source of great pride for us,” declares Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “The aim behind the opening and management of every one of our stores is to help all sports lovers enjoy the best possible experience. This means top-quality, practical products, and well-trained, competent staff. We are not just sportswear manufacturers. We help all those who choose Macron to live and breathe sport. When you enter a Macron Sports Hub, you find competence, professionalism, passion and, irrespective of where you are in the world, the style, refinement and elegance of Italian design.”
