Macron and Equatorial Guinea: a four-year agreement and new match kits for the Africa Cup of Nations 2024

The Macron Hero will take the field in the final phase of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. The logo that identifies the Italian brand will appear on the new shirts of the Equatorial Guinea team, with whom Macron signed a four-year technical sponsorship contract. The announcement of the new partnership coincided with the presentation of the new shirts that the Nzalang Nacional (National Lightning) will wear throughout the competition, which runs from 13 January to 11 February in Ivory Coast.

The Equatorial Guinea National Team is in its fourth participation in the final stages of the African Cup of Nations, with fourth place in 2015 as its highest result. In this 34th edition, Nzalang Nacional has been drawn in Group A along with hosts Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau. The first match against Nigeria, scheduled for 14 January at the Olympic Stadium Alassane Ouattara, will coincide with the debut of the new match kits that Macron has created for the African national team.

Equatorial Guinea's Home, Away and Third jerseys for the Africa Cup of Nations 2024 are red with white and green details, white with blue details and blue with white details respectively. The Away and Third versions also feature a shaded band in the centre with the red-white-green tricolour of the flag of Equatorial Guinea. The graphic theme that characterises all three kits is that of the lightning bolt, echoing the nickname of the African selection Nzalang Nacional (National Lightning). The symbol of the thunderbolt, in a tone-on-tone sublimation print, is in fact repeated in different sizes and tones in all three shirts, as is the wording 'NZALANG NACIONAL' on the outer backneck. The inside backneck is instead customised with the logo of the Football Federation of Equatorial Guinea (FEGUIFUT), the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying and highlighting how each garment is conceived, designed and developed in the Italian brand's headquarters.

All versions of the kit, which boast exclusive custom designs, convey a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment, being made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled plastic. The equivalent of around 13 half-litre plastic bottles are collected and recycled to make every shirt, according to estimates.
