Legacy, memories and respect for Basque country: main values who characterise the new Home Kit designed by Macron for Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque

Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque, the Basque rugby club that plays in the French Pro D2 championship, has presented the new Home kit that Macron has designed for the upcoming season. The set revolves around the season's ‘Family Reunion' theme involving all the Basque provinces, united by the same roots. Beyond the homage to its own history and its fans, in fact, the kit celebrates Basque culture in its entirety, as also demonstrated by the choice to reveal the set on the day of the friendly match against historical rivals Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Pro, in the context of a series of derby days between Basque teams. What the club wants to celebrate is, in fact, the unity of this territory, as well as the diversity and importance of every single club. The colours refer to the Basque identity and pride, and the kit is also a symbol of respect towards the other teams in the territory, which share the same values and passion, making Basque rugby unique and special.

For the club, the new kit is more than just a uniform. It's a tribute to a glorious period in its history, a time when Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque shone brightly in Europe. The set brings back memories of matches at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian, the European Rugby Champions Cup final at the Stade de France in 2010, and the triumphant first European Challenge Cup title in 2012 against Rugby Club Toulonnais.

The front of the new crew-neck Home shirt is occupied entirely by the Ikurriña, the symbol of the Basque Country, which pays homage to the unity of the seven Basque provinces. This combination of red, white and green is also found on the shoulders, sleeves and crew neck. The customised inside neck label has a red background on which appear the name and logo of the club. Also on the inside neck label are the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus. On the chest are three embroidered logos: in the centre is that of Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque, on the left is a white Macron Hero and on the right, also in white, is the logo of the town of Biarritz.  The curved shape of the Basque cross is printed in green at the bottom of the shirt back. The shorts are red with a white drawstring and green side bands. The socks are white with a red top and a thin green stripe. A red Macron Hero appears just above the ankle and the word ‘Biarritz’ – also in red – appears on the calf.

Like all the garments that Macron produces for its partner clubs, the kit is made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic. To be more specific, the jersey is Body Fit and made from Eco Armevo and Eco Bodytex, two fabrics that offer lightness, breathability and excellent strength. The new official Home Kit of Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque can be purchased online from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the club.
