Identity, history and symbols in the Ospreys’ new 2023-2024 jerseys
The Ospreys, a top Welsh rugby club that just this year joined the Macron family, has unveiled the new match kits that will be worn in the prestigious BKT United Rugby Championship. Jerseys that highlight the Ospreys’ 20-year history, symbols and successes through sophisticated and innovative graphics while, at the same time, as with all Macron clubs, express a strong message of sustainability and care for the environment. The new kits are in fact made of Eco Fabric, a 100% polyester textile made from recycled plastic. The equivalent of around 13 0.5-l plastic bottles is used to make each jersey.
The Ospreys’ new Home and Away jerseys for the 2023-24 season celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Welsh club. Showcased through the customised, individual jersey designs and inside of the collar is a sweatband with the numbers 2003-2023. Both feature the word OSPREYS along with four coloured dots (red, white, blue, grey) representing the Ospreys’ four semi-professional clubs, Aberavon RFC, Swansea RFC, Bridgend Ravens RFC and Neath RFC.
The traditional black Home jersey features a V-neck with blue edges and white detailing, the same colour combination being present on the sleeve cuffs. The customised inside neck comes in the multi-coloured graphics that characterise the Away version, the word “OSPREYS”, the Macron logo and the words “Designed in Bologna”, certifying and highlighting how each garment is conceived, designed and developed in the technical sponsor’s Bologna headquarters. The Macron Hero logo appears in white on the right of the chest, while the club’s logo occupies the left. Two graphic themes on the first jersey represent the club’s 20-year history; on the sleeves and shoulders there is an embossed pattern with the team’s logo design and on the lower front is the grey sublimation-printed design of the Ospreys’ first crest and below the words “Est. 2003”, the year the club was founded. The shorts are black with white drawstrings, the black socks have a white stripe and a blue stripe at the top.
The white of the Away version is brought to life by the innovative and striking sublimation-printed graphics on the upper part of the jersey and on the sleeves. A design which depicts the osprey mask, logo and symbol of the Ospreys, inside which are abstract geometric figures and symbols linked to the club in pink and light blue, as well as a series of dates representing the Welsh club’s 20-year history and successes. A refined look that confirms Macron’s ability to ensure the technical garments made for its clubs are exclusive and unique. The sleeves feature, as in the Home jersey, an embossed pattern with the club's logo repeated at various angles, while the edges repeat the same abstract and colourful graphics of the front of the shirt. Graphics that are also present in the customised inside neck label inside the V-collar, with black edges and blue and pink detailing. On the chest, just above the “eyes” of the mask, you will find the Macron Hero and the Ospreys crest in white. The shorts are white with pink, black and light blue detailing on the thigh edge. Three stripes placed just below the upper edge of the white socks are in the same colours.
The Body Fit shirts are made mainly from Eco-Armevo with Eco-Boditex and Eco-Strong Mesh inserts for maximum strength along with lightness and perfect breathability. These new 2023-2024 kits, along with all the other articles in Macron’s teamwear collection for the Ospreys, are available at the store at Swansea.com Stadium, at an Ospreys store in the Quadrant Shopping Centre, as well as in a brand new Macron Sports Hubs on Carmarthen Road in Cwmbwrla, Swansea and from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the Welsh club.
