ASTERAS TRIPOLIS FC PAY HOMAGE TO THEIR HISTORY THROUGH NEW MACRON HOME JERSEYS

Greek Super League club Asteras Tripolis FC will mark their 90th anniversary with a special Home jersey designed by technical sponsor Macron for the 2021/22 season.

Faded photos from back in 1931 show the team wearing jerseys with chunky horizontal stripes, while the goalkeeper wears knee guards and a woollen cap. The world has certainly changed since then, but it was this photo that provided the inspiration for Asteras Tripolis FC and the Macron style department to produce a jersey that paid tribute to those past heroes – while adding a contemporary take, of course.

The new Home jersey for the 2021/22 season has a blue polo collar which is fastened with an elasticated tape. The front of the jersey features horizontal stripes in blue and yellow, with these extending down the sleeves and reappearing on the rear of the shirt at the bottom. The back of the neck features the logo of the club positioned in the middle of the year 2021, against a yellow background, while Anniversary 90 Years sits below. The anniversary dates, 1931 – 2021, are embroidered in blue on the outside of the rear of the collar.

The references to the historic nature of this season for Asteras continue in the form of a slogan which is printed repeatedly (with a star at the start and finish each time) around the tape running inside the jersey: Ήρθες από τα παλιά, από τα ωραία χρόνια.

The Macron Hero logo is embroidered in blue on the right breast, while the Asteras Tripolis FC crest appears over the heart on the left.

Blue shorts and socks with horizontal stripes in yellow and blue complete the home kit. These slim-fit jerseys are made from a material called Piola, which gives them a markedly retro feel.
