A tribute to the Basilisk in the new FC Basel Third Kit made by Macron
Although a mythological creature, the Basilisk has undoubtedly entered the popular imagination, becoming, in some cases, the symbol of a city. In Basel, it is easy to see its image in numerous places, banners, and city symbols, such as the Neo-Baroque railway station, the Two Towers clock, the St. Gallen gateway, and multiple fountains in the Swiss city. Together with the Baslerstab, the basilisk has assumed a highly significant symbolic role for this city and, consequently, for the club that represents it. FC Basel and Macron dedicated the new 2024/25 Third Kit to the basilisk through a graphic that features the mythological creature.
The dominant colour of the new FC Basel 2024/25 Third shirt is dark green with black and ivory details. The knitted polo collar and the sleeve cuffs ar also balck and are both embellished with two fine ivory stripes. The front and back body of the jersey features sublimated green graphics consisting of vertical bands within which the basilisk design is repeated. The label on the inside backneck is customised with the basilisk design in white on a black background and with the ball featured in the club’s crest. Underneath the design is the inscription ‘FC BASEL 1893’ along with the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that each garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus.
On the chest, the Macron Hero in ivory silicone print is on the right, while on the left, in the same colour and material, there is a monochrome version of the FC Basel 1893 crest, topped by the two stars symbolising the club’s 20 Swiss championship titles. The Baslerstab is embroidered in ivory on the outer backneck. The kit also features an internal customised silicon tape on the bottom of the back of the shirt, with the repeated inscription ‘BRENNE FÜR DR FCB’ (‘Burn for FCB’). The shorts are in dark green with ivory drawstring and black bands on the hips. The dark green socks have a black upper border with two fine horizontal ivory stripes. A wavy black band is in the middle, with the acronym FCB on the front and 1893, the foundation year, on the back.
The Third kit, as well as all game kits made by Macron for the Swiss club, is made of Eco Fabric, which is 100% derived from post-consumer plastic recycling. The shirt has a Slim Fit, and specifically the main fabric is Eco Light Sirena, with Eco Softlock sleeves and the presence of the Eco Micromesh panel on the back that ensures lightness and improves breathability. The new kits, along with other garments from the FC Basel 1893 clothing line, are available in the club’s dedicated space on the macron.com website.
