The new UEFA match official kits make their first appearance in Istanbul for the Champions League final
The new UEFA match official kit, designed and made by Macron, the “Official UEFA Referee Match Kit Supplier”, will be seen for the first time at the long-awaited UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter on Saturday the 10th of June at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
The Macron Hero logo, which has appeared on the shirts of match officials in UEFA men’s and women’s football since 2019, will therefore play a key role in Europe’s most prestigious game alongside the teams fielded by Pep Guardiola and Simone Inzaghi. The new kit will be supplied to all refereeing teams in official UEFA games for the two-year period of 2023-25, starting during the early stages of next season’s European club competitions.
Just like the previous UEFA refereeing kit, the new one is made from Eco Softlock, a polyester fabric obtained entirely from recycled plastic. Along with excellent quality and high-tech materials, the new kit ensures unrivalled comfort and practicality in support of the extremely important role played by referees and their supporting officials. It also conveys a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment.
The new kit comes in four different colour variants: black, fluo yellow, fluo blue and the new fluo red version, which will be the one that the UEFA referees will wear in Istanbul. The shirt features a knitted crew neck and incorporates practical front pockets with Velcro closures. A pointed motif and the UEFA logo are embossed alternately on the front and sleeves. The Macron Hero appears on the right of the chest and on the shoulders. A patch bearing the “UEFA FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN” logo is applied to the left sleeve.
The UEFA referee match kit is completed by shorts – black for all four colour variants – with Velcro-closed rear pockets. The socks are in the same colour as the shirt. The Slim Fit shirts are made from Eco Softlock fabric with Eco Micromesh inserts for maximum breathability.
“Close cooperation with the refereeing section of UEFA and positive feedback from match officials have enabled us to improve the performance of every new kit,” explains Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron. “Referees have a tough job to do and need practical, comfortable garments to do it well. We are happy to offer them the very best in quality along with an elegant, stylish design with customised pockets.”
