National symbols and identity characterise Scotland’s new shirts for the Rugby World Cup 2023

Scottish pride and identity blend with excitement and passion as the nation prepares for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Scotland is one of seven Macron nations playing in this year’s Rugby World Cup in France. The Scots’ first match is on Sunday 10th of September against South Africa in Marseilles and will take the pitch wearing the new shirts developed by Scottish Rugby’s partner, Macron.

In addition to excellent quality and advanced technology, the new shirts feature exclusive graphics that express the sense of identity and belonging to the colours of the national team. They also convey a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment, being made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled plastic. It takes around 13 recycled half-litre bottles to make every shirt.

Scotland’s new Home shirt for the 2023 Rugby World Cup is navy blue, with a white-trimmed Mandarin neck and sleeves with two thin stripes, one of which is in Scottish Rugby’s own tartan green. The distinctive graphics of this shirt appear in bands down the sides. These contain the tartan, which has identified Scottish Rugby since 1991 alongside Scottish navy blue with green and purple shades of the thistle, Scotland’s national flower. The inside neck label features the same tartan pattern as background to the logo of Scottish Rugby, the motto ‘#AsOne’, and the Macron logo, with the words ‘Designed in Bologna’ underneath. The inside neck sweatband is customised with the word ‘Scotland’ alternating with the Scottish Rugby logo.

The Rugby World Cup France 2023 and Macron Hero logos are embroidered in white on the chest along with the badge of Scottish Rugby. The Saltire is embroidered on the left sleeve. The kit is completed by navy blue shorts with bands of tartan at the side and white socks with a navy-blue top band and two horizontal lines in purple and tartan green.

In the Away kit, tartan is the dominant motif and appears embossed in tone on tone over the entire shirt, which has a white body with a navy-blue Mandarin neck and sleeves trimmed in the Scottish Rugby tartan (navy blue, green and purple). The Saltire is again embroidered on the left sleeve. The inside label and the sweatband are both customised exactly as in the ‘Home’ shirt. The Macron Hero and the badge of Scottish Rugby are embroidered in navy blue on the chest. The shorts are in navy blue with the same graphics as the shirt on bands down the sides and at the top of the back. The socks are in navy blue with a white top band and a thin white stripe further down. Both shirts are Body Fit and made from Eco-Armevo with Eco-Boditex inserts – materials that guarantee lightness, breathability, and great strength.

The new match kits, along with the Replica versions and the exclusive range of teamwear and merchandise developed by Macron for Scottish Rugby, can be purchased from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the Scottish national rugby team.

Along with Macron's national team shirts, you can live your passion for rugby and the Rugby World Cup 2023 through official merchandising line sportswear available from the RWC 2023 online store, the macron.com website and all Macron Sport Hubs and authorised Macron dealers. The collection will also be on sale at all stadiums and fanzone stores for the duration of the tournament.
