Macron’s new Home kit for Stoke City FC conveys the club’s close ties to the city and its industrial past
The nickname ‘The Potters’ that identifies the players of Stoke City FC derives from Stoke-on-Trent’s industrial past and its historic links to the ceramic industry. In and around this Staffordshire city it is still easy to see the bottle and ceramic ware kilns and factories that have come to symbolise the area and its inhabitants. The unique form of these historic kilns is one of the characteristic elements of the new ‘Home’ shirt designed for Stoke City FC by Macron and that the ‘Potters’ will wear for the 2024/25 Championship season, the ninth played with the Macron Hero on their chests.
Stoke City FC’s new ‘Home 2024-25’ kit features traditional red and white vertical stripes, in a broad and striking dye-sub print. The shirt has black bands around its crew neck and sleeve cuffs. The most characteristic and innovative graphic detail on the new ‘Home’ kit, which appears on the whole of the shirt including the red stripes, takes the form of a tone-on-tone pattern reproducing the iconic shape of the brickwork ceramic kilns that symbolise the city’s industrial past.
The customised inside neck label features the colours and logo of the club along with the Macron logo and the words Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and developedat the technical sponsor’s main Campus. Silicone prints of a black Macron Hero and a Stoke City FC logo appear in the centre of the chest. The shape of a typical kiln is reproduced on a white background behind the neck. The kit is completed by white shorts with black drawstrings and red bands down the sides, and by white socks with two black bands around one red band.
The Slim Fit shirt has Eco-Mesh inserts for reduced weight and improved breathability and is made from Eco Fabric, a material derived entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic. Macron uses this technology for all the garments it makes for its sponsored clubs in keeping with the brand’s deep commitment to sustainability and the environment. Like all other items made by Macron for Stoke City FC, the new ‘Home’ kit will soon be available for purchase from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the club.
