Macron is the new technical partner of widzew Łódź
The list of clubs in Poland’s top division choosing Macron is growing. The latest addition is Widzew Łódź. Starting next season, the Macron Hero will appear on the shirts of Widzew Łódź, the club from the town of Łódź in central Poland. The agreement will last until 2027.
Widzew Łódź has over a century of history: the club was formed in 1910 and has had a successful career with various sorties at European level. The club’s trophy cabinet contains four Polish league championships, one Polish Cup and a Polish Supercup. At European level, the club has played many times in the UEFA Cup, but one of the most important pages in its history was written in the UEFA Champions League. Widzew Łódź beat Hibernians, Rapid Vienna and Liverpool in the 1982-1983 season to reach the semi-finals, only to be defeated over two games by Juventus, who then lost to Hamburg in the final in Athens. That very year, Zbigniew Boniek joined Juventus from Widzew Łódź, having captained the Polish side the previous season and worn the club’s white and red shirt from 1975 to 1982, playing in 172 games and scoring 50 goals.
The collaboration on the design of the team’s new match kits for the coming season has already begun. The club’s new top-quality teamwear will combine technical and stylistic innovation with attention to detail, refined graphics inspired by the glorious history and all the traditions and symbols of a club with a rich past and a present and future at the top of the country’s premier division.
“Widzew Łódź is one of Poland’s most historic clubs and boasts one of the most dedicated fan bases in Europe. We are delighted to be working with the club in coming years,” declared Alberto Ianes, Macron Country Manager for Poland. “Our designers have been working hard on a fully customised collection that the players are sure to appreciate for its strength and the fans for its attention to detail, historical references and striking stylistic features. We are convinced this new partnership will be a tremendous success for both parties.”
“Cooperation with Macron is a very important element of the club’s further development. I am extremely glad because we managed to conclude a record-breaking contract financially, thanks to which the interest of the Club is secured. I would like to thank our new technical partner for efficient negotiations and I hope the cooperation with Widzew will bring many benefits to both companies. Macron supplies top European clubs with sports equipment so I am full of optimism and count on a great cooperation” said Mateusz Dróżdż, President of the Board of the Widzew Łódź.
