Macron is the new technical partner of USL Dunkerque
French Ligue 2 BKT club Union Sportive du Littoral de Dunkerque has joined the Macron family. Les Maritimes as the team is known will be supported by the Paris Ouest Macron Sports Hub and will receive new game kits and sportswear starting next season, the club’s second in France’s second division. The agreement will soon be followed by a presentation of new official matchday kits featuring shirts made from top-quality, high-tech fabrics with innovative custom designs expressing the identity of USL Dunkerque.
Formed in 1909 by Marcel Tribut, USL Dunkerque’s history is closely linked with that of the port and industrial area it represents, and with the symbols and monuments that express its identity. These include the famous buccaneer Jean Barto, the Risban lighthouse (the highest of its kind in France), the Town hall tower and the Duchesse Anne, the largest three-masted sailing ship still afloat in France. The area is also inextricably associated with the famous Operation Dynamo that took place in the summer of 1940, with the forced retreat and recovery of British and French troops in the early part of the Second World War, an exploit presented in the multi-Oscar winning 2017 film ‘Dunkirk’, directed by British film maker Christopher Nolan.
USL Dunkerque’s ambition is to establish itself in French professional football thanks to its sporting results and with the support of the Amissos Group, a sports investment company founded by Yüksel Yildirim, who has taken over ownership of the club in July 2023. The club’s project focuses on training, development and the Dunkirk identity, while at the same time taking a socially responsible approach to the local community.
“We are happy to announce this new partnership with USL Dunkerque,” declared Lionel Ribaut, Head of Macron Sports Hub Paris West. “It is always exciting to tell the story of a club with such close links to the local area and community, especially when that club is celebrating 115 years of sport. The club’s colours, symbols and local references will all be appearing on top-quality, high-performance match kits, giving them a special value for the players who wear them and for the supporters on the terraces.”
“This new partnership with Macron is part of our desire to develop a range that reflects our values, our sporting ambitions and our region. Through the garments we will be developing together, we hope to strengthen the link with our entire community and improve the customer experience, while at the same time benefiting from quality products for our teams. It is very important for USLD to be able to work on a personalised range to satisfy our growing number of fans. We look forward to the launch of the new official jersey in a few weeks’ time”, says Edwin Pindi, Chairman and CEO of USL Dunkerque.
