Macron is the new technical partner of Urania Basket Milano
An important piece of Milanese basketball history joins the Macron family. We are talking about Urania Basket Milano, a club that will play in the A2 series from the 2018-2019 season and that, in the history of Milanese basketball, represents a crucial reference point for many young people who have approached the world of basketball. Macron will dress the Wildcats from this season, providing game kits and technical apparel from the first team to the youth sector.
Urania Basket Milano boasts 72 years of history and was founded in 1952 by a group of friends after a trip to the USA. The boys, who attended the city oratory of Santa Maria del Suffragio, were struck by the skill and elegance of the 'wildcats', the players from Kentucky University, so much so that they adopted their colours, blue and red, their nickname and, albeit revisited, also the emblem of the wildcat, which has always been the symbol of the Milanese team. Urania in Milan represents and has represented a point of reference for those who wish to play basketball, and it is undoubtedly among the city realities that have contributed to the growth of basketball in the Lombard capital. Initially, as a team of an oratorial reality, it participated in the Centro Sportivo Italiano championships, then passed the FIP tournaments, and then climbed up the various championships to the B series. In the 2018/19 season came the historic promotion to Serie A2, which also coincided with the relocation of their home court to the famous Palalido (now Allianz Cloud). In recent years, Urania Basket Milano has reached the promotion playoffs on several occasions and has always provided high-level performances.
Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, highlighted the brand's commitment to supporting Urania Basket Milano's journey. “The history of this club is made of passion, commitment, dedication and well represents the spirit of the Macron Hero. Urania Basket Milano has been able with great tenacity to achieve important goals and today plays on par with other teams at the highest levels of Italian basketball. It is a young and dynamic reality, even if with a long history behind it and with a philosophy that is inspired by those values of sport that we fully share and that we are happy to help exalt through the game kits and clothing that we will create for the players and for all the fans of the 'wildcats’”.
Luca Biganzoli, CEO of Urania Basket Milano, added: “This partnership is based on common values, such as commitment, dedication, innovation, competence and enthusiasm, to achieve mutual growth. A winning partnership, based on a group vision and strong motivation.”
