MACRON 4 THE PLANET
For some clubs Macron has produced shirts using fabric made from 100% recycled polyester. This fabric maintains all the same technical characteristics of the non-recycled fabric but has the benefit of requiring less energy throughout the whole production process.
As part of the series of initiatives that make up the project “macron 4 THE PLANET”, Macron has begun the production of match shirts using a polyester that is 100% recycled from PET – polyethylene terephthalate. This particular fabric, known as Eco-Softlock, is comprised of TOPGREEN material, certified by the Global Recycle Standard. The final woven fabric has a weight of 145 gr/m2 and comes from PET that is collected and subsequently transformed into chips roughly 2mm in size. These chips are then worked on to achieve threads with the same characteristics as those produced from non-recycled polyester. Each shirt is produced by recycling the equivalent of 13 half litre water bottles. Macron’s decision to produce using this material represents a huge step in protecting the environment and offering eco-sustainable products to the market.
Macron 4 THE PLANET also means to work and produce looking at nature and the environment as a "travel mate": sustainability, low environmental impact, energy produced from renewable resources, safeguarding greenery, enhancing work and collective spaces. All this was completely achieved in June with the transfer of all activities to the new headquarters, always in the municipality of Valsamoggia (Bologna): a new space built on a plot of 55,000 square meters, 22,000 of which are dedicated to the new warehouse (16,000 sqm) and the central offices (6,000 sqm) of Macron.
