Garnet, royal blue with a paintbrush-effect and a homage to Antonio Ligabue on the new Home Shirts of AC Reggiana

Only a few weeks after the end of the season in which the club returned to Serie B and finished in 11th place, AC Reggiana and Macron have revealed the new ‘Home’ kit that the Emilian team will wear next season. Traditional colours and historical references blend with innovative, modern graphics and a homage to Antonio Ligabue, one of the most important painters of the last century, on the new shirts. Ligabue’s works were always direct, immediate, and striking. His paintings fix and embody emotions just as these new garnet shirts convey the club’s identity on the pitch.

The new kit is made from Eco Fabric, a material obtained entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic. This material is adopted by Macron for the teamwear they supply to all professional clubs around the world, irrespective of the sport they play. Its use is perfectly in line with AC Reggiana’s commitment to supporting social and environmental progress.

AC Reggiana’s new ‘Home’ shirt for the 2024-2025 season maintains the club’s traditional and historic garnet colour but embellishes it with a royal blue pinstripe pattern on the front and bottom of the back. The thin vertical stripes are decorated with a paintbrush effect in homage to one of the most important and original artists of the 20th century, Antonio Ligabue, whose personal life and artistic career are so inextricably associated with the province of Reggio Emilia. The decision to include such a homage was taken because the 125th anniversary of Ligabue’s birth (on 12 December 1899) and the 60th anniversary of his death (on 27 May 1965) both fell within the 2024/25 season. Royal blue details are likewise found on the trim of the crew neck and in the form of two horizontal bands on the sleeve cuffs. The inside neck label also features a reference to the great painter, whose silhouette seems to be painting the club’s logo with a brush. The label carries the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and developed at the headquarters of the club’s technical sponsor.

The Macron Hero logo is silicone printed in white on the right of the chest while the logo of the AC Reggiana appears on the left, over the heart. The words ‘AC REGGIANA 1919’ appear in white on the back of the shirt, behind the neck. Just below is the Italian tricolour flag in homage to an important historical event: the flag of modern Italy first appeared in Reggio Emilia on 7 January 1797. The kit’s shorts are in royal blue with side bands and drawstring in garnet. The same combination of colours appears on the socks, which are mainly in garnet but have a cuff and two horizontal bands in royal blue.

The new ‘Home’ kit of AC Reggiana will soon be available for purchasing from the Reggiana Store and online from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the club.
