Earth Day: celebrating the planet and protecting the environment through responsible, virtuous business practices

Celebrating Earth Day means being aware of our most pressing need: to safeguard the planet on which we all live. Earth Day is a great opportunity to promote the conservation of our planet, its environment and its natural resources. It also demands our commitment in the form of practical actions in everyday life.

This is the approach taken by ‘Macron 4 the Planet’, the project that asks us to make informed choices and take practical steps in favour of the environment on a daily basis. The project sees sustainability as a multifaceted concept with economic, social and environmental sides to it.

Macron 4 the Planet means commitment, recovery, recycling, and respect for the land. It also means optimising our company procedures to minimise our impact on the environment. With this aim in mind, a growing number of Macron products are now being made from ecologically sustainable fabrics (Eco Fabrics), obtained from 100% recycled PET. The “Better Cotton Initiative” promotes a more efficient and sustainable use of soil and water resources for the cultivation of cotton, along with higher quality standards and a more dignified working life.

The recovery, regeneration and reuse of materials is one way to reduce the volume of waste produced and its impact on the environment. Under Macron’s Renycle project, for example, textile waste is transformed into polymers and then into yarn to produce high-tech socks made from regenerated polyamide. Optimised management of packaging materials also makes an essential contribution to sustainability. We have minimised our use of paper and cardboard while our polybags are made from 100% recycled plastic and have a hermetic seal that makes them ideal for reuse.

Our celebration of Earth Day requires us to adopt responsible business practices, manufacture clothes that embody our virtuous choices, support weaker producers and give customers the best possible quality. Macron 4 the Planet does all this and more. It means believing in a sustainable lifestyle, doing everything we can to help save our planet, and looking to the future with the right kind of optimism.
