‘Celeste’ colour and the ‘Sol de Mayo’ adorn the new Macron kits of the Uruguayan National rugby team
After announcing their new partnership, the national rugby federation Unión de Rugby del Uruguay and Macron, a top name in the world of rugby, unveiled the new match kits that will be worn by the Uruguayan national teams throughout the upcoming season. The colour combo of ‘celeste’ blue and sunshine yellow that identifies the South American XV is enhanced by a design and graphics with exquisite attention to detail. In addition to featuring team symbols and historical and geographical references, the new shirts also convey a message of sustainability and respect for the environment as they are made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled plastic. Indeed, 13 half-litre bottles are recycled to produce each shirt.
The new Home jersey of Uruguay Rugby is ‘celeste’, the traditional light blue that represents Uruguay in every sport, and it features a polo shirt collar and a white band on the sleeve cuffs. Both the front and back of the shirt sport dye-sub graphics, with a tone-on-tone fade effect mimicking clouds in various shades of light blue. Superimposed on this background is the ‘Sol de Mayo’, a national emblem of Uruguay representing a sun with 16 rays (8 straight and 8 wavy) which appears on the country’s flag. The inside neck label is customised on one side with the national flag together with the logo of the Unión de Rugby del Uruguay, and on the other, against a background that reproposes the shirt graphics, the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying that the garment is conceived, designed and developed at the Macron Campus.
The Macron Hero is embroidered in white on the right chest, while the URU logo appears on the left. The phrase SABREMOS CUMPLIR (We will fulfil), taken from the Uruguayan national anthem, is printed in white behind the neck. The 16-ray sun appears again in a yellow dye-sub graphic at the shirt bottom. The shorts are white with light blue details, and the socks are light blue.
The Away kit echoes the design of the first shirt but in this case the dominant colour is golden yellow representing the sun, and once again the background graphic is inspired by the sky of Uruguay accompanied by the image of the Sun of May. Light blue is the colour of choice for the sleeve cuffs and the details on the polo neck, while the inside neck is customised just like the Home jersey, as is the phrase from the national anthem that appears behind the neck, and the sun at the shirt bottom. The shorts are light blue with white drawstrings and yellow details, and the socks are yellow.
Both shirts come in Body Fit and are made from Eco-Armevo fabric with inserts in Eco-Boditex, materials that are not only lightweight and breathable, but also extremely tough.
