A laurel wreath and the 'Lupa Capitolina' grace Italrugby shirts for the Rugby World Cup 2023

Italrugby is all set to take to the field at the upcoming Rugby World Cup taking place in France from 8^th September to 28^th October. The Azzurri will play their first match on Saturday 9^th September at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne against Namibia, wearing the new jerseys which Macron, FIR’s technical partner since 2017, has created to epitomise the identity and combative spirit of the Italian squad.

Along with the symbols, tradition, spirit, and values that this sport represents, the shirts also convey a message of sustainability and respect for the environment as they are produced in Eco Fabric, a polyester material made from 100% recycled plastic. For every shirt produced, around 13 half-litre plastic bottles are recycled.

The Italy home jersey for the Rugby World Cup 2023 is light blue in colour with a two-button polo shirt collar, a slim white line, and white sleeve cuffs. The inside backneck is personalised with ‘ITALIA’ printed tone-on-tone in the background and, in the foreground, the logo of the Italian Rugby Federation, the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, certifying and emphasising how each garment is conceived, designed, and produced at Macron’s Headquarters. The Rugby World Cup 2023 logo, the Macron Hero and the crest of the Italian Rugby Federation are embroidered on the chest. The key graphic element on the front of the new Italrugby jersey is the stylised design of the laurel wreath present in the FIR crest, produced in a tone-on-tone dye-sub print. The bottom rear of the shirt also features an embossed print of the Capitoline Wolf. Completing the Home kit are white shorts and light blue socks.

The Away version is white in colour with light blue details below the polo neck collar and on the sleeve cuffs. The graphic design echoes that of the Home kit, with a personalised backneck, a tone-on-tone stylised laurel wreath across the entire front, and an embossed design of the Capitoline Wolf on the bottom rear of the jersey. The RWC 2023 logo appears on the right breast, with the Macron Hero in the centre and the FIR crest on the left. The shorts are light blue and the socks white. Both shirts feature a Muscle Fit, the fabrics used are Eco-Armevo with inserts in Eco-Boditex, materials which as well as being lightweight and breathable, are also extremely hard-wearing.
