150 YEARS OF HISTORY IN THE NEW ‘HOME’ SHIRT PRODUCED BY MACRON FOR READING FC
2021 is a milestone year for Reading FC which celebrates 150 in the beautiful game. Founded in 1871, in the first decade of the last century Reading actually competed in an Italian tournament, defeating Genoa, Pro Vercelli and AC Milan.
Macron, technical sponsor of The Royals, together with the English club, has presented the new ‘Home’ shirt which the Berkshire team will don next season. A first shirt that pays tribute to all those players who made the English club great.
The new “Home” shirt sports the traditional blue and white hoops. The jersey has a crew neck with gold edging. The backneck is customised with a blue band with gold edging and the special edition logo marking the club's 150th anniversary, along with the wording, also in gold, 1871 – 2021 150 YEARS.
The distinctive design of this new shirt is the result of a tone-on-tone dye-sub print, repeated in the blue hoops, which reproduces the names of the players immortalised in the English club's Hall of Fame.
The back collar features the wording 1871 – 2021 150 YEARS in gold embroidery. The Italian teamwear brand’s Macron Hero logo appears in gold on the right breast, with the special Reading FC crest celebrating the club's 150th anniversary on the left. The shorts are white with a blue drawstring and gold pullers. The socks feature blue and white hoops.
The Slim Fit jersey is mainly made of Softlock fabric with micromesh inserts to ensure the garment provides perfect breathability.
The goalkeeper home shirt is also an homage, taking inspiration from the jersey worn by the ‘legendary’ Steve Death who played for Reading from 1969 to 1982. The jersey is green, matching the shorts and socks. The other kits dedicated to the ultimate defenders are in black or blue with a geometric interwoven design.
