Symbols of the national flag on Portugal's shirts for the Rugby World Cup 2023

Rugby Portugal is the first of the seven national squads that wear Macron team wear to present its new kits for the Rugby World Cup, to be held in France between the 8th of September and 28th of October. ‘Os Lobos’ (the wolves) will play in Group C along with Wales, Georgia, Australia and Fiji, debuting against Wales in the group’s first ‘Macron derby’ on the 16th of September and then playing against Georgia on the 23rd of September. The new Home and Away shirts were presented during a special event organised together with the Cascais City Council, which was also an occasion to announce a song written and composed by the famous Portuguese band Xutos & Pontapés, "Somos Lobos" ("We are Wolves"), which is going to support the team during the Rugby World Cup.

The shirts to be worn by Rugby Portugal express the team’s close links with the nation, not only through the colours that traditionally identify the country’s players, but also through a graphic that pays homage to one of the symbols of the flag. The new kits are made from Eco Fabric, a polyester material obtained entirely from recycled plastic and therefore convey a clear message of sustainability and respect for the environment.

A red front and back with cardinal red sleeves, sides and bottom back identify the new Home shirt. Other features include a V-neck and green details that repeat on the sleeve cuffs. The shirt is characterised by a sub-dye printed, all-over, optical effect pattern in different colours representing the five shields in the centre of the Portuguese flag. The Rugby World Cup 2023 and Macron Hero logos are embroidered on the chest along with that of Rugby Portugal. White shorts complete the kit and red socks with a cardinal red band around the top.

The Away shirt is white with a knitted V-neck in green with a red stripe. The same colours are repeated on the sleeve cuffs. The sleeves, sides and back bottom change to a pale grey. The same graphic as the Home shirt covers all surfaces, with the five shields represented in different colours. The Rugby World Cup 2023, Macron Hero and Rugby Portugal logos are embroidered on the chest. Green shorts and white socks with a red top band and green stripe complete the kit.

All the new Portugal Rugby kits are Body Fit garments made from Eco Armevo with Eco Boditex inserts – two materials that offer high strength as well as lightness and breathability.
